re-dying suede shoes?
I have a pair of shoes similar to this but in dark red but they have not only faded, but one shoe has faded more than the other one, making them look a bit scruffy to say the least. I'm loath to throw them out as they are quite a good quality pair of shoes and still have some life left in them so I was wondering about…

Cooked chicken storage
I have a query about my bargainous yellow stickered raw chicken I just bought. I'm just about to cook it tonight but not eat it. After it's out of the oven, do I need to freeze it or will it be fine in the fridge to use over the next day or two? I've had a look but can't find the answer. Thanks

How hard do you find it, being a vegetarian?
Naturally, this thread is addressed to vegetarians and vegans. Do you ever slip up, and buy something non-vegetarian? Is there something non-vegetarian, which you find yourself craving, from time to time? I've bought strawberry sponge puddings, and a bottle of strawberry milk shake syrup, and had to give them away.…

Saintsbury's premium non stick ,stuck
Yesterday I treated myself to a set of Saintsbury's Collection, 3 hard anodised oven trays. They were reduced from £35 to £17.50. However when I used them last night to bake H.M pizza I had to soak them to get off the baked on cheese and bits of pizza crust that had got stuck in the corners ( my pizzas never turn out…

Lidl receipt anyone?
Hi I have posted this on the parking board as well but thought I'd post here to all you lovely people as I'm a long-time OS'er. I am in the process of appealing a parking ticket (issued unfairly) with Lidl but they want proof I have shopped there - even prior to the date of the ticket - but I've binned all my receipts. I…

Hiya Folks I wonder if you can help? My friend that I am staying with has some old mugs which have lovely patterns outside but are all tea stained inside. She doesn't want to throw them out because they were gifts from friends and family when she moved in here. However, she feels that she cannot use them for folks as they…

We'll Eat Again
I have had this wonderful cookbook by Marguerite Pattern for a few years now and have just dipped in and out of it. Last night I took it up to bed with me to ponder. It is a fab book for the Old Styler and I have decided to make better use of it. I am going to try and cook all the recipes from the book over the coming…

Cleaning up (neighbours) broken glass/mirrors
About a year ago I noticed my neighbour dump a glass shower door, a large mirror, and another time loads of empty vodka bottles next to the bin which of course the school kids found the next day and smashed. A year maybe even far more on and they have never cleaned it up, and my parents are coming to visit with their pet…

Oldstyle cleaning of mirrored stainless steel kettle?
I've had a look through the zillions thread, and even have a book on cleaning without chemicals, but I am having no joy with my kettle. It's a stove top stainless steel one, but not one I can scour, as you can some pans, as it's mirrored, and I feel it's vulnerable to scratching. It's not chrome - it really is "mirrored…
