Hi there I am looking at improving my credit score. I have three credit cards at present. Each one has available credit to use. Confusion with Statute Barred on a 6 year old C.Card debt
Hi All I've spent the day looking into this and I'm hoping some of you lovely people can provide me with some advise. In 2009 I had a credit card, and due to my circumstances, divorce and unemployment, I didn't pay it and it defaulted on 26/02/2010. It was from Tesco, and the balance is £1600. Last year I opened a Noddle…

I am totally lost at the moment as I have been contacted by a debt recovery company regarding a debt I have not heard from in 15 years, The first I learned about this was a phone call on my mobile last week. I have lived in my home for over 15 years and had the same landline number for 18 years. I have during that time had…

Defaulted on F & F Settlements as a victim in accident
Hello all, I have read lots of threads about defaults on F & F settlements, but most are situations where the borrower was in debt. I don't know if my situation is any different, to cut the story short, I was a victim in a bike accident where I was knocked down by a car, resulting me in being off work for 9 months. This…

Default removal from credit report
Hi everyone, I know this is a subject that comes up multiple times a day but I just wanted to triple check something. I have 4 default accounts on my file, all defaulted in 2010. Since then I have been very good and have no credit anymore so I know that 3 of them will be removed from my report this year, August and October…

Settlements and Defaults
In 2010 I entered into a Debt Management Plan as I was finding it a bit of struggle to pay all of my creditors. Part of that plan was a loan from Natwest Bank, which was originially used to clear a large amount of previous debt built up from the period from finishing uni to that point as well. In 2013 I received a sizeable…

first credit card statement...

I got my first statement today and have spent around £200 of a £600 limit I logged onto my experian this morning and have noticed a huge drop in my score, due to the credit account being added and the £200 bill. I know the score is meaningless, but…

Date of a Default
Does anyone know of what goes into deciding a default date on a credit file. I have a default that I partially settled with Santander. They accepted my payment and agreed that I had no more to pay. Then they registered the default date as post the date of settlement. The account was clearly in default for some years before…

Improving credit score in 1-2 months
Hi guys I did something stupid. I repeatedly applied for a loan with both TSB and Lloyds and got turned down. I didn't realise this would impact my credit score! I've done it intermittently over the past few months to see if I could get one, and wasn't sure why they turned me down (though it's not surprising, but I got one…

EE Credit Score
I've just downloaded an Equifax credit report in preparation for a mortgage application, and discovered that I have apparently owed EE either £2 or £2.50 [EE say one, credit file says the other] since November for an account I was under the impression was closed/settled. I was told last year that to cancel I simply needed…

Implication of a default on credit file?
As someone who has never worked in finance or had a default, I am guessing that a creditor adding a default to someone's credit file, due to them being on a debt management plan with StepChange, will mean nobody will offer them credit again; no more or less. Does anyone know more than me of the implication?

Does Card Fraud affect Credit Ratings?
I'm looking to apply for a Mortgage with my Partner (first time buyer) this summer after saving for a long time and I'm wondering if Banking fraud affects your credit rating. This year I have had fraud twice, against my current account and only yesterday my credit card - both have been refunded to me as I proved the…
