Do you bbq?
I’m thinking of buying a gas bbq. Does anyone have any recommendations for a small one? Does anyone know which one Which said was not worth buying in the April edition? If you have one do you use it much? Are there old style things to do on a BBQ? We cook from scratch normally. I’m thinking home made coleslaw etc, maybe…

Help with using up food.
Hey everyone, it's been a while since I posted much on here. Hope everyone is well. I'm in a real blip financially at the moment so have gone back to basics to try and save some money. I have an Autistic little boy who is really hard to feed, for months he lived on chocolate chip brioche for breakfast (don't judge, it was…

Weekly Flylady Thread 20th May 2019
Welcome to the Weekly Flylady Thread What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole…

Foraging - Natures Food
Hi, Recently I've been interested in local wild foods. (All spurred on by a walk in the woods and they pay off your mortgage in 2 years programs, with the nettle lady). Anyway I decided to do some research, there's plently of info on the net, and I brought a collins pocket guide to take walking with me. I'm very luck that…

Freezing bread dough
As it says in the title. Is it possible to freeze bread dough? In particular, naan bread dough. I have a lovely recipe for naan bread using 300 g of bread flour. The result is better than any naan bread I’ve bought in the supermarket and is on a par with restaurant quality if I say so myself. However I only make half the…

2019 - A More Old Style Year
2018 hasn't been an awful year - especially compared to other people. But at this strange time after Christmas but before the New Year I get into a reflective mood. I am realising that I have lost myself! Somewhere in between working a violent job being a full time step mum as well as having a house of clutter I have…

Vaccum sealer recommendations
Evening, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a vaccum sealer. For say around £30. I already have one and it vaccums lovely until I seal it and then it lets half the air back in. I thought it was me but it seems to the machine. Thanks in advance Yours Calley x

Washing machine
Noticed over the last couple of weeks that my washing machine and sometimes the clothes when I take them out are smelling a bit fusty. Any homemade remedies to stop this?

Has anybody else noticed that this household toilet cleaning product: Foam Aroma: brand Bloo: manufacturer Jeyes clogs badly inside the container? i.e. the powder seems to get damp even if the lid is always tightly closed. Opposite of thrift - what brand do you not cheap out on?
I was just wondering what brands people swear by? We are all on here to save money but sometimes the brand really is the best way to go! An example from me is Nespresso - I have started using L'or capsules for decaf, but except that Nespresso is the best blends I can find. Hoping to move onto a ground coffee espresso…

Wash or chuck old pillows?
My pillows are years old, id say more 5 years though I bought a few 2 years ago. I get worse allergies every year and it came to me last night that I only wash my pillows about once a year! and when I lie on them if I put my face on the part of pillow which isn't covered by a pillowcase I get itchy eyes, and my most common…
