Ulsterbank pain trying to open a Loyalty Saver account
I saw on the weekly email that UB had a loyalty saver account, paying 5.2% for £5+. Great I thought, so I applied to open an account. A letter arrived on the 2nd Dec telling me of my reference number and that a customer number would be sent by email within 48hrs. Nothing to date has been received and I've checked the junk.…

I'm timing the market - who's in?
I know, everyone here hates people timing the market - it's time in the market that counts.I have a healthy holding in City of London Investment Trust (CTY) in my SIPP - 17,000 shares to be precise. I'd like to increase that holding, to around 20,000 shares (+17.65%) but I'd rather not pay out £12,600 for those extra 3000…

Are dividends not a good approach when deciding on investing?

Any good lower cost alternatives to VWRD and VHYL?
I currently have these 2 global funds, they have charges of 0.22 and 0.29, I wondered if there are other global funds with lower charges that anyone might recommend. Both of these funds seem ok so far for me but I know as the size of the investment goes up, lowering charges becomes important so would like to see if there…

7 year investment time frame
Does anyone have any words of wisdom on where you would accumulate money that you wanted to start drawing on in around 7 years time? Most advice seems to focus on either long term or short term and 7 years seems a bit 'in between'. My personal view is that 7 years would probably be classed more as 'short term' but seems…
