Why Do they Inform Landlord
Why do they have to inform my landlord if I go bankrupt? This would cause major problems for me as my landlord know`s most of my family and would not keep it quiet. As I do not get behind with the rent at all I cannot see why she has to know. Jacqui

First court appointment today
It was horrible! My local Court work on this weird system where you take your forms and fees in on a Friday and they are checked by the receptionist and then you go back in front of the Judge on the following Tuesday. Anyway, the woman who dealt with my forms was really horrid. I followed the fee remission forms…

Going bankrupt soon, would appreciate some advice ...
Hi there, I'm a newbie to this bankruptcy malarky so please be gentle with me :A ;) My husband and I intend to go bankrupt in a couple of months' time, at which point we will be separating. We're in a negative equity mess (a house worth £145k, secured debts of £160k and unsecured debts of £40k ), we're unable to sell and…

Stopping payments to creditors
Hi Again, I keep thinking of more questions. Didn't sleep last night because my head was full of them. Before Christmas I had a 'phone conversation with a 'financial adviser' (recommended by my employers) who advised me that we have two options; IVA or BR but he was leaning toward IVA (quoting fees of £8000). Owing to our…

A moment's reflection, and fermi for moderator
It is now almost a year since the “Bankruptcy & Living with It” thread was created as a sub-forum of the DFW Board. As one of the longest serving posters on the subject in its current format, I think I have the right, and the duty, to comment that the problems plaguing the original thread on DFW are just as acute today.…

Hi Guys, Happy new year to you all. We went bankrupt in september 2007 and all things considered it has gone fairly smooth really. Question about the 'Judge'
:D Hello, me again This may seem a silly question, but bear with me, all will become clear.... Our 'County Court' deals with bankruptcies. When you see the 'judge' is it a judge or a magistrate that you see (or are they the same thing?). Reason for asking is my next door neighbours son (who I have known since I was 8 years…

A few questions ... please
Hi, My partner went BR in Aug '07. Just a few questions if anyone could answer or point me in the right direction. At what point will he know if he is going to get an IPA? He already has the NT tax coding in place, but he has heard nothing about any possible IPA's. Also , he is due a Xmas bonus of approx £600 after tax,…

Tenancy???
Hi Have just read my tenancy agreement and it says that "We may repossess the property if you become bankrupt". Does this mean that I can't do it? I'm up to date with my rent and will continue to be so as it's the very first thing that comes out of my account after I get paid. This place is furnished - if I get kicked out…
