Want to sell certificated shares
Want to sell some certificated shares and seems cheapest way is to avoid the banks and Equiniti. If I send the certificates by post to a broker should I send them registered post? Any recommendations as to who to use much appreciated.

VOTE now! Proposed take over of Virgin Money - Nationwide members should be given a vote
I'm really unhappy about Nationwide management running roughshod over their members (we the customers own the building society as it's a mutual), trying to push through a deal to buy Virgin Money. My quick take: * Nationwide management have proposed a takeover of Virgin Money * Terms of the deal have been agreed, but it is…

Move ISA to a Better Rate
Hi, I finally started using an ISA this year and maxed it out. Now there is a better rate in another provider (Plum). Can I move my money to the new provider and will it be ok tax wise, or do I have to keep the old one? Thanks, Andy

Kent Reliance Maturity warning
Just something to bear in mind when deciding on a savings provider. Kent Reliance have confirmed they will pay maturing proceeds into my nominated account within 5 working days from maturity date. As that will effectively be up to a calendar week I make it a reduction in actual interest rate from 4.51% to 4.32%. I'm not…

YBS Savings Accounts
Anyone know/understand why YBS let you get accounts but stop you from depositing until they complete checks? (Even if you already with them?). Like applied for a 5.75% one earlier, shows account details in app. Trying to get my head around why they would give me the account if they need to do checks.

Top Easy Access acs Ranked: Top of The Pots - **No Chat**
I've had a few suggestions/requests to start a separate 'No Chat' thread, as the ToTP list gets drowned in 'chat' in the 'Top EA discussion' thread. The aim is to maintain an easy-to-find ranked list of the c.Top 10 available to open & manage online Easy Access accounts, with links. The purpose of this thread is to ONLY…

Would this be a reasonable plan (ILG ladders, ISA/SIPP income etc)?
Looking at the positive yields (atm) on ILG across the yield curve I have been thinking about building a ladder to take me to age 75 with a view to perhaps buying an annuity at this point. After checking through previous years spending I am happy that £36k pa (cpi adjusted) would more than cover my spending needs. My…

Small amounts in Regular/Monthy savers
Hello, Is it worth the effort to open a Regular saver account if you are not going for the max limit it allows? I'm not awash with savings but like the concept of these accounts but are they worth applying for?

Interest On Multi Year Fixed Term Savings Accounts
Hello. This might be a stupid question and I apologise if so. My question is - are there such things as multi year fixed term savings accounts that add interest only on maturity and not in any intervening years? Such accounts would help me spread my savings interest across the years and reduce my tax liability in relation…

YBS Website Timeout Issues
Anyone else have problems with YBS (Yorkshire Building Society) website. When opening an ISA logs me out while I'm entering details. Same thing happens if I click on help. Tried over 10 times to enter details, get so far then logs me out! Finally gave up and went elsewhere.

Monthly charges v annual charges
Matioli Woods have a deposit charge and then monthly charge for investing with them. Is this usual practice? I thought most investment companies made an annual charge.

Do I need to pay tax on savings interest?
Following the recent sale of an inheritance property I have deposited around £70k in a high interest savings account, earning around 5%. My current income is my full state pension plus a small amount I take from my SIPP to take me up to the tax threshold of £12570. The remainder of the inheritance money (£200k) is now…

Hi, I am no pension or investment expert but I'll to to explain... Trustnet Portfolio
Hi I find the Trustnet Portfolio a useful tool when it comes to tracking the performance of my s&s ISA and SIPP. My question is is it possible to add individual shares listed in the USA as a holding? Assisting with tax through gov gateway
I have helped my elderly mother register an online tax account and she has requested me to be able to help her with her tax affairs via the online service. The Top Fixed Interest Savings Discussion Area
I'm interested in people's thoughts and recommendations for the best fixed interest accounts. With BOE interests rates recently starting to increase we have to consider the desirability of long term fixed interest savings. Since withdrawals are usually not permitted before the end of the fixed period, such general interest…
