Ninja CREAMi Breeze Ice Cream & Frozen Dessert Maker
Posting here as us OSers are the most likely to make HM ice cream. Anyone who has seen the deals to be had on the main site will have seen this one. The reason I am going down the HM route is because I love ice cream but the stuff in the shops is ultra-processed and really is full of rubbish. I would rather get away with a…

Best duvets and bedding for overnight comfort
I am not sure this is the right part of the forum, but I genuinely could do with some sound advise. My partner and I have very different needs for heating. He is always cold. To give an idea, during the weekend I was walking around in a t-shirt and a light cotton jacket. He was wearing long-sleeved shirt, a down jacket, a…

Weekly Flylady Thread 26th February 2024
Welcome to the weekly Flylady Thread. What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole…

Feeling the Pinch!
My child only eats the thin bagels as normal size are too much and too bready /calorific for him - has them in packed lunch. This Monday they were 90p for 6 (and out of stock but that was normal price). Today go to get some and the exact same are £1.70 for 6! Why…….. (in asda - one I can get to without a car). No others to…

Stains on car from wd40
Hi, I made a mistake of spraying some wd40 on my car door to try and remove a stain...I forgot to wipe it off and a few days later I now have streak marks from the wd40....does anyone have any idea how I can get those streak marks off? I just tried a bit of washing up liquid in warm water and it hasn't helped. Thanks.

Please help me make a chicken curry or similar
Before I cheat and open a jar of Tikka Masala sauce, I could do with using up some stuff in the cupboards that I bought with good intentions. I have a whole chicken that I was planning on using the breasts tonight then putting the rest in the slow cooker overnight. Other items I have are: A tin of reduced fat coconut milk…

Welsh cakes
It's St David's Day on Friday ... will you be making welsh cakes? Do you have a preferred recipe? (Apparently there will be daffodils in reception at MSE Towers later this week in honour of all things Welsh...) Personally the best welsh cakes I've ever tasted came from the stall at Cardiff Market. There's some welsh cake…

Vegetarian meatballs
Has anyone a good recipe they could recommend and share? I find the store bought ones dry and too dense and under-seasoned and would like to make my own so I can control texture and taste once I've found a basic good recipe. I've looked around the net and the most interesting sounding ones are based either on chickpeas or…

Clean Eating 2024 Version 2
Insurmountable IT probs necessitates starting from scratch. The Stepford Household definition of clean is food which doesn't include preservatives, emulsifiers, starches, gums or anything artificial. It excludes packaging because that's inedible and an environmental issue. Cooking from scratch is preferable. Bargains are…

Olio banning users incorrectly?
Hi, have any other Olio users been banned and accounts deleted this morning? Both my wife and I got the same email at 10:26 saying we’re banned for having multiple accounts. We have 1 each, well within the rules, but we do need to use each others phones occasionally to list items. Looks like the new system Olio has in…
