Best Way to Save
All, For the next couple of years, my Partner & I will be fortunate enough to be saving a substantial amount. In one account we will be saving £500 every month, and another around £2000 every month. What is the best way for the highest interest rates? Do we invest the money in something or do we save into a savings account…

Pensions and LISA
I'm after a bit of advice or guidance about savings and investments. I have seen IFA in the past but I've not been terribly impressed. They all seem to want to sell my life insurance even though I am single with no dependents and one was trying to sell me a service that looked very much like YNAB for £75 a month. I used to…

Revolut Launches Easiest & Fastest way to Buy Cryptocurrency
I've recently started investing in Ethereum after making the decision to invest some money in a Bitcoin alternative. Up till now I've been using Coinbase - but it seems Revolut are about to start supporting Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum. I personally think this is great news as Revolut have said they will be significantly…

Another fund platform question...sorry!
Hi So, retirement lump sum in the bank and I'm ready to take the plunge into investments. The plan is to invest 2 x £15K in two S&S shares ISAs for myself and my wife before Xmas and then squirrel away £500 pm across the same ISAs for the foreseeable future, planning to leave well alone for the next 10 years. (I've also…

Investec not on comparison sites
I am looking at 1 year fixed rate savings. Investec at 1.85% looks pretty good but I cannot find them listed on MSE, GoCompare, MoneySupermrket or other sites. Anyone know why? I asked Investec and they couldn’t offer an answer. Could it be because they have a high minimum investment? Thanks for any ideas.

Multi Account Savings
Does anyone know of any savings accounts that allow you open multiple accounts under 1 main account, for example accounts may be for Holiday, Xmas and General. So i could put say £100 in Holidays, £50 in Xmas and £25 in General each month, rather than it all going into 1 main account. I know Nationwide use to do an e-saver…

Are IFAs using Nucleus platform "independent"?
Hi all, I contacted an IFA a couple of years ago for advice on investing ~£120k. He advised putting my money into the funds on the Nucleus platform (in ISA-wrapped accounts where appropriate). I believe that Nucleus offer a range of Morningstar portfolios according to one's risk/reward preferences, and they switch my…

BOE rate rise but Chelsea/YBS reduces rates!
I had a fixed rate bond with Chelsea which matured end of Nov but taking into account the BOE rise I thought I would wait a while to see if the put fixed rates up before reinvesting but to my astonishment they have put them down! Yorkshire BS who owns them have done the same. before the rate rise both Chelsea and YBS were…

What to do with inheritance funds
Through recent inheritance and sale of a 2nd property my husband and I have been able to pay off our mortgage and still have a substantial amount remaining. We have one child and have already saved a large sum for her university expenses. Ideally we would like to retire early (we are in our early 50s). We both work in the…

£10k to invest for new baby
Thanks to an exceedingly generous Grandparent, when my first child enters the world next month I will have £10k to invest on its behalf. I want to invest it for the long-term (for at least 18 years). I don't expect that we will be in a position to add to this fund over the next few years. I'd be grateful for any thoughts…

Personal Savings Allowance
If HMRC automatically collect tax on any interest earned over £1000, how do they differentiate between savers when the interest is paid into a join account?

Do IFAs take their own advice?
Why do IFA's work or even exist, surely if they took their own advice the could design a plan to provide all of their income, once of course they had created the capital they needed. They can't be doing it as a service to us ill-informed masses because their fees are so high. Just a thought for dismal Saturday afternoon

P2p question
I have two lots of p2p savings at the moment, ratesetter with 2000 in for the bonus and ablrate in an ifisa with just over 3k in. This represents about 10% of my non pension net worth. I have a stocks and shares isa with about 25k in it as well and cash of about 10k which I'll be building back up having eaten into my…

Confusion about H2B Cash ISA / S&S ISA Limits
Hi All I have some confusion about ISA's and limits (i.e. paying into only one Cash ISA a year), and what that means for where I can store money. TBH about saving accounts in general. I've historically had an instant access cash ISA with my current account (which I was paying into monthly). This year, I opened up a H2B…

Can I have 3 high interest accounts with 3 different banks ?
My inheritance of £50k is sitting in my current account at the mo...I've read that some banks offer 3% interest on £20k....can I put eg. £20k into Santander @3%...£20k into Halifax @ 3% and £10k into Nationwide @ 5% ? These rates if it's doable would give me around £141 a month interest to spend on whiskey and golf :) ! Or…

Tracing missing funds
Asking this on behalf of a friend. To cut a long story short - in August he sold £10k worth of USA via his broker TD Waterhouse (I think). He had held these shares with them since 2012 when working in the States. About 2-weeks later the money showed up on his Barclays account in the UK. 6-weeks ago he sold £50k worth of…

Independent Financial Advisors - all a bunch of con artists?
For health reasons I'm presently quite poor, but I've found the golden ticket! I'm about to be worth half a million quid! All that had to happen for me to qualify was for both of my parents to die within a week of each other! Happy days! Cheer for me! No. Really. Don't. Unaccustomed as I am to this level of wealth, I feel…

Coinbase v Etoro
I understand all of the risks with Bitcoin. I have a small amount of money left over at the end of each month and I am thinking about investing a small amount (that I can afford to lose) in either Bitcoin or Litecoin. My research has found the two platforms: Coinbase and Etoro. I would be interested to hear reviews about…
