Shin Nippon woes...
I have been a happy long term investor (ISA) in BG Shin Nippon but they do seem to have lost their way recently. I have four investment tranches. First two in positive territory ( just ) but the more recent ( just a few years less invested) quite a loss. Overall negative territory. Anyone with insight into why such a big…

Closing and re-applying for accounts to move interest dates and/or extend term
Anyone closed and re-applied for Skipton
Building Society Member Bonus Saver (currently 5.5% up to £3000)? If so, how
soon after closing were you able to successfully re-apply? I haven’t used it
apart from initial £1 but it would be of use to me this coming year if I could push
the interest to 2025/26 tax year. Same…

Regular savers ending - can I open a new one?
So my regular savers with Skipton, First Direct and Halifax are coming to an end next month 😕 Am I able to open another one as soon as the old one has ended? Also - do they automatically close it? How do I get my money back? Is it going to ask for maturity instructions?

yougov.finance bribe
It's one of these almost-too-good-to-be-true stories, but it is true. First mentioned by @Bridlington1 in the Natwest Regular Saver thread, but I reckon this deserves its own thread as it could be of interest to those who have at least 10 current, credit card and savings accounts and not everyone reads the Natwest RS…

Top Easy Access acs Ranked: Top of The Pots - **No Chat**
I've had a few suggestions/requests to start a separate 'No Chat' thread, as the ToTP list gets drowned in 'chat' in the 'Top EA discussion' thread. The aim is to maintain an easy-to-find ranked list of the c.Top 10 available to open & manage online Easy Access accounts, with links. The purpose of this thread is to ONLY…

x-o abandoning SIPP customers?
Currently, I have a SIPP held with x-o, part of Jarvis. x-o hold the shares while another company, Embark Pensions, manage the pension legal aspects. I received a letter today from Jarvis saying that they are withdrawing from the SIPP market and that I have to move my account elsewhere. I guess they have found SIPPs not to…

Bare Trusts is special account needed?
Bare trusts held in Interactive Investor. Legacy accounts. They no longer properly support Bare Trusts. Account is closing. They suggest just creating a separate investment account and putting the Bare Trust in that. It would not longer have the name of the Beneficiary on it, rather the Trustee's name. Does anyone know if…

Cynergy Bank - bad login procedures
What a really rubbish bank, I've had over 25 savings accounts over the years and this bank has the worst procedures I've ever dealt with. To start with their app is beyond awful due to the bank's infuriatingly difficult and fiddly to use login procedures. I work in tech, so have a good understanding of how things should…

Islamic saving accounts.
Hello. I've read that if you're a Muslim, then you can't technically earn interest but can make a profit payment. Is there really much difference other than the termology used? Also, can a non-muslim open an account with these banks? Thanks

Saving for children
Good morning I have 2 very small children and would like to set up savings accounts for them. I've looked at JISAs and I think I can open 2 and put half the allowance into each every year however that doesnt appear to be the most efficient way to save for them. Im considering a high interest monthly saver but would I have…

For those worried about concentration in indexes
I assumed the US indexes were maybe toppy and maybe risky for a tech fall because of concentration and lack of diversification but this surprised me: https://www.trustnet.com/news/13412104/the-uk-market-is-more-concentrated-than-the-us

Should I be expecting more from my investments
Hi,I have an EQ ISA (Positive Impact Cautious Plus) and have about £45k in it. I have had the account since Dec 20 and pay in £500 per month. On top of that, I have paid in two lump sums of £10,000ish in mid-2021 and mid-2022. Overall my profit is sat at negative £500, ie I've made a loss over that period. I was expecting…

Cashing a foreign cheque in the UK
I have a cheque in Thai Baht I need to cash. I have confirmed I can cash it with my bank, but it will take 6-8 weeks to clear and they can't confirm the rate as it will be set on the clearing date. I'm pretty sure it wont be the best rate out there either. Any idea of other options to safely cash a GBP five figure foreign…
