If for whatever reason you had your claim for AFP rejected there is now an appeal process in place. Make sure you appeal if you met the criteria on the Government portal but received a rejection letter.

Alternate Fuel Payment £200
Surprised to see £200 arrive in my energy account this week marked Alternative Fuel Payment Grant. We were not expecting it but on further inspection of the criteria used for the initial payments the village is not served by mains gas so every household will receive it no matter what their source of heating and hot water…

Wood pellet boilers
We live in a rural area and rely on wood pellets for heating and hot water. It has been mentioned that LPG and oil fired systems are eligible for government support, but we've not seen any mention of wood pellets. Has anyone seen or heard an announcement regarding support for wood burners? Like all energy sources, the…

Alternative Fuel Bill Support - Beware - losing out if you've moved house
We sold and moved out of our previous house at the end of November 2022. That house was heated by oil and solid fuel and we had purchased oil in September 2022 - a tankful costing nearly £500. At that time the Government had not confirmed any process for a COL benefit payment for those using alternative fuels. We've moved…

Lack of Alternative Fuel Payment
Anyone else in my position and fallen through the cracks - I didn’t get the £400 last summer as I’ve had oil central heating for 30+years. I got the Autumn payments of £67 via my electricity account however I’ve unfortunately moved home in January. I’m renting at the minute so have no electricity account but when I tried…

Alternative Fuel Payment - praise for EDF (genuinely!)
I qualified for AFP for my oil-fired central heating, payable, as we know, via the electricity supplier. Because I don't pay by direct debit (I pay on credit card when the quarterly paper bill arrives), I was worried about actually getting the AFP cash from my electricity supplier, EDF. Their latest bill to me showed the…

Calor Gas LPG - problems switching to Flogas
Hi, I just wanted to ask if anyone has any experience in the LPG switching process / CMA regulations? I notified Calor Gas in December 2021 of my intention to switch to Flogas. Unfortunately, Calor Gas was unable to supply the required 10 Year Safety certificate for the underground LPG tank as they had not performed it…

Will heating oil prices increase following the decision to cut output?
Will heating oil prices increase following the decision to cut output? This is from the BBC News site. Oil prices have surged after several of the world's largest exporters announced surprise cuts in production. I know it is all speculation but I have noticed a 5% increase in my online Boilerjuice quote since yesterday. Is…

Cant seem to get Alternative Fuel Payment
We are a small community of 6 houses - none of which are able to get gas and are either on oil or Air Source Heating. Our postcode is not registered on the off-gas-live postcodes (could be cos a business in this postcode away from the houses has recently had gas installed but we cannot connect to it) Tried to fill in the…

Flogas not delivering
In March 2023 Flogas wrote notifying us that they will no longer deliver our bulk gas supply as we have a covered walkway of our Grade II Listed building and we need to remove the roof before they will deliver. The issue appears to be a "line of sight" from the tank to the delivery tanker - however both drivers and one of…

Natural Gas - Price
The price of natural gas seems to have plummeted to below the low point of a year ago. In that case, why is my gas bill do damnably high? See the roller coaster on a chart, easily found by a search.

Considering buying house on Bulk LPG metered estate
Hi all! We are contemplating putting an offer on a house that's on an LPG metered estate (in Scotland). I wondered if any of you might have some details on the usual contractual arrangements that are in place, particularly how someone on a metered estate might be able to 'move off'. For context, the house was built as part…

Alternative Fuel Payment - receipt dates
I put in an application using the government portal and have just received a reply from East Devon County Council saying they required more information - OK but it also said to supply invoice/purchases dated from September 2022 to March 2023 - does that mean that we only have until the end of March if we want to buy more…

Alternative Fuel Payment.
As I live in a rural area I was notified that I was eligible for this payment. The payment would be made into my electricity account, I am supplied by Octopus. I, rather naively, assumed that Octopus would return the funds to me as they have nothing to do with electricity supply. Having made several attempts, also in spite…

Alternative Fuel Payment
As one of the approximate 2 million households that are off-grid for heating I was pleased to learn the government are planning to pay £200 in February to help with the cost of fuels such as heating oil and biomass etc. However, as Martin Lewis himself said a couple of weeks ago, information is thin on the ground as to how…

How to get my AFP as CASH not credit to my electricity account!!!???
Hi, I'm new and joined to ask this question! I have oil fired central heating, and EDF my electricity supplier has told me I'm receiving the government's £200 AFP. So far so good. But, because I pay my electricity bill quarterly (the old fashioned way!), paying only for electricity I've used, they have said they will put…

Alternative fuel payment British Gas
I have received a £200 credit in my British Gas energy account this morning as expected as I use oil and wood to heat my house. They have just confirmed that they will not be transferring to my bank even though I am a direct debit customer and that instead this credit will be used against future energy costs. I am assuming…
