Install gas or electric in flat
I have just purchased a flat and don't know, what is the best route to go down regarding heating. At the moment there are storage heaters( old ones) in the bedroom and lounge and a gas boiler to heat the water. The gas boiler needs replacing anyway. What would our best option be replace the boiler like for like and buy…

Octopus Tracker
I just wondered about people's experiences with this tariff and whether they feel they are winners or losers. I got a quote from them yesterday, and I have to say I find the numbers highly misleading. The figures are very attractive, beating even the good fixed rate tariff I got from Avro, but presumably based on an…

Smart meter installed without our knowledge, (or our suppliers!)
We've just discovered we have had a smart meter fitted - the meter house is outside. We recently tried to provide our supplier (EON) with a meter reading but they said it was too low - and when my partner sent them a photo, they realised it was a smart meter and not on their records. The upshot is that we've gone from…

Business or domestic ?
Hi. I've been in my flat above a business since August last year. My landlord (business owner downstairs) has been sending me meter readings and my share of the electricity as I don't have a meter in the flat but a sub meter from the business downstairs. I have recently found out that's it's only a business account and…

British Gas

Changing meter in empty property
Hi all, I'm helping out with a property which has been empty for 12 years and is being completely rewired and renovated, including the installation of Quantum storage heaters. Part of the work involved is replacing the current meter (which is blank) with a two rate meter. Does anyone know who I should get in touch with to…

Gas Bill?
Hello all please can I have some help / advice. We recently had a letter from British Gas saying there was an issue or problem reading this smart meter and that they would send someone out to read the meter. I’ve now had a bill over £1400 and a demand saying that they’re going to start legal action is there anywhere from…

247 Home Rescue won't repair boiler within cover, considering switching to BG instead
In a previous property I had a 15yr old boiler which required a couple of repairs in the time I lived there, and BG Homecare repaired it no problem. I know they have mixed reviews, but I never had any issues with them. In a different house, I have 247 Home Rescue cover and they were just conducting an annual service. I…

Octopus unpaid energy bill, landlord, prior tenant issue
I have a bit of a problem regarding an outstanding energy bill thats gone on for 18 months. When i took tenancy with my place i received bills shortly afterwards addressed to "the occupier" in the amount of around £300. I figured the previous tenant who had moved out had left an unpaid bill or taken the bill out of their…

Octopus Energy Billing Issue
Having finally been fully transferred from AVRO to Octopus I have just received my first bill - £1,400 for electricity in 5 months! Complete nonsense and based on completely fictitious meter readings used by AVRO. I've emailed them twice but still not even an acknowledgement. Not sure what recourse I have if they refuse to…

Sub metering
Hello, My question is about sub metering. Where my partner lives are two garage blocks of 4 garages all sharing one meter. One of the owners has a plug-in hybrid and asks how much it would cost to install a sub meter in his garage so he can charge his car independently of the other owners. Regards Phil
