Widowed parents backdated payments
Hello. I applied for the backdated payments for widowed parents, now that the law has changed and we were not married. I applied in July 2023. I am still waiting on a decision. I feel like I am just being ignored now. I've rang them to be told "We don't know" and contacted my MP. Still nothing. Can they just continue to…

Pip and state pension age.
Hi folks, Having had a PIP assessment around 2018, re-asessment was then put back to 2023 and then to 2025 but having reached state pension age fairly recently I was surprised to get a letter a few days ago, saying that I now won't be re-assessed until 2029, because I had reached state pension age. A welcome surprise as I…

Universal credit and private pension contributions
Ok, I have recently started making the change to UC. With tax credits, we were able to deduct 100% of our private pension (not attached to earnings) contributions from our salary each year. I have spoke to UC and apparently only work based pensions are deductable. Yet I have found lots of info that just uses the word…

Capital reduction for LCRWA recipients
As I understand it, the capital reduction is effectively £4.35 reduction for every £250 of capital above £6000 up to £16000, which effectively means that the maximum deduction is £10000/250 = 40, 40 x £4.35 = £174 which would leave someone who had £15,750 savings with a UC of £393.45 - (39*£4.35) = £223.80. Presumably £1…

Hi, does anyone know if there are PC delays in responding to reporting a Change of Circumstance? I haven't heard anything from either of them since, but I have proof of…

Hi all. I'm a carer for a friend who gets UC and PIP. Recently seen the £175 switching offer with first direct, and called them to ask for clarification. After speaking with 5 staff, 3 had no idea what universal credit is. One said no. And the other said yes. So, does universal credit (LCWRA) automatically switch? Please…
