The 12 days of Old Style recipes
OK, just received a surprise present from an old flame, and looking for ideas on what to do with it. Basically, it's a small bird, and he's also sent a small pear tree. Very nice of him, but it's an odd combination. All the same if there's any board in Christendom (other religions and spiritual destinations exist, as well…

Newbie Here
Hi everyone I've decided that we need to start eating properly (i.e. remotely healthily!) for two reasons - at the moment we eat rubbish and we need to start spending less money on food as my maternity pay ran out last month so we are just on my hubby's wages now. We've done a meal plan for this coming week (decided to do…

What to do with a bottle of Bacardi?
I know the obvious answer would be drink it, but OH and I rarely drink and it wouldn't be Bacardi if I had the choice. I wouldn't have purchased it myself, but was kindly given a bottle by someone for Christmas. I'd rather not regift it as is, but have enjoyed previously making liqueurs such as anisette, baileys, amaretto…

Tin openers
My decent tin opener died early in 2008 after many years service, since then I have THREE replacements which have all failed, OK I might expect a 99p one not to last long but I also had two more expensive ones and they have just packed up after a few weeks. Tonights failure is an Easican bought in Morrisons I'm sure it was…

What do you do with the jelly from tinned ham?
I usually throw this away but I am sure I can use it for something. I used to give some to the dog but some of it is saltier than others. The one from Tesco Premium ham is quite nice, bit like the jelly you get in a pork pie, not too much salt. What do other members do with theirs?

Hey guys, Link to my original thread... I'm looking for pearl sugar for a friend, the crunchy, not hard 'bits' that you find on sticky pastries or sweet bread. Any ideas where I might find it? I might have to buy some off my local cake shop if I can't get it in bags somewhere... Thanks in advance xx
