Probate or not?
My mum has just died and I have seen her Will. Her and her husband have simple "mirror wills" leaving everything to the surviving partner and in the event of their pre-decease then equally between 5 children. Both she and her husband were in second marriages and both had children before they got together. Apart from a few…

Belligerent beneficiary
Hoping for some advice. Husband is executor of father's estate. The 2 other beneficiaries have caused so much trouble, its taken 2 years to finalise. Lying on social media, halting probate, preposterous lies back and fore solicitors etc. Everything was done efficiently and professionally and all accounts sent. The one…

Can relatives witness a will? (Non beneficiaries).
Hi all, I seem to be getting a bit of mixed advice on this matter, but I intend on leaving my estate to a couple of friends in the USA should I die. For simplicity sake, I'd like to have my mother and step father witness the will signing, but some sites say it can't be family at all, whereas others say it can be, as long…

Should funeral plans be included as an asset when valuing an estate?
My mother-in-law passed away in the summer, at which point we found out she had not one funeral plans but two (!). With the COVID regulations that were in place at the time the funeral was small and so we've found ourselves in the weird situation where the plans are paying out more than the cost of the funeral. Does anyone…
