Failed GivEnergy AIO
Hi, My battery failed after 10 months, my question is who has the liability ? the installer or the manufacturer ? I have been trying to get support from GivEnergy since December, but their support is dreadful. I'm now worried since GivEnergy look like they are going bust, and my installer is just ignoring my request to…

Solar panel cleaning (lichen, moss etc) - the big imponderable
Any up to date thoughts on the best way to tackle moss and lichen on solar panels - and for that matter the general question of keeping them clean? It's a long time since ours were installed and they really do need cleaning. Manufacturers all seem to say water only (no chemicals) and no brushes - but reality says that…

Reduced interest payments on FIT TARIFF
When I invested in solar everything was expensive with risks but the 25 year contract encouraged me to invest. Now the Government has seen fit to change the contract this; undermines trust in such schemes and using the excuse most use CPI instead of RPI is weak to say the least. I would hope large institutional investors…

Solaredge on Octopus IOF
Hi, Now that Octopus is dropping their fixed export rate it's time to look again at IOF sooner rather than later. When the Solaredge integration was first added there were report of serious problems, I'm hoping these are now fixed. Can any members currently on IOF with Solaredge gear comment on how they're finding it?

Recycling at Ikea - you can also return Allen keys!
A quick note to say I discovered today that Ikea accept a number of items for recycling in-store. I've been holding onto a low energy bulb for months because locally no-one will accept them but am due a trip to London this week and found this info on their website. (I also have a small personal electric shaver so will drop…

Solar inverter/battery problem
Hello everyone, I'm hoping that someone on here will be able to point me in the right direction. I have a solis inverter with 3 Dyness batteries. Regarding BESS does anyone on here have any good experience of batteries cold weather performance and thus recommendations. I know Screwdriver has posted of Tesla Powerwall low temperature specs but wondered of there are any others that are good in that respect. My Pylons are speced only to zero for charging but -10…

Solar Panels Grant - pitfalls?
As part of a Warm Homes Grant, I've been offered solar panels. I don't know enough about them to understand the implications. Are there downsides I should be aware of? Or should I bite their hands off as it's free!

Who to notify?..... DC coupled retrofit battery
I have a 10kWh Growatt hybrid inverter with an 11.44 solar array on 3ph. Export is restricted to 10kWh.on G98. If I add 20kW of DC coupled battery storage, do I need to notify / seek DNO approval? Export is controlled by the existing inverter and batteries are on DC side so any export is controlled to agreed limit.

Battery Backup
I am thinking of putting a backup system in place to power the house when we have power cuts, of which there have been a few recently, some lasting several hours. Planning battery installation soon, and only to feed one of the three phases (i.e., not heaters) when in backup mode, but not sure if to go with automated…

Recycling Feather/Down clothing or duvets
Hi, this seemed the most appropriate place to mention this scheme which I discovered today after some digging about. Not so much money-saving as a morality-saving for anyone who struggles with the ethics of living in a throw-away society perhaps! I've upgraded my very old feather and down duvet and wanted it to be…

Solar panels Spam call National/local energy support trusted homes
Thought I'd post this here with today's spam call, it nearly caught me out so possibly others will benefit. I don't usually answer unknown numbers, but this English speaking man called and knew my name, number and home address. At first I thought it was a courtesy call from my installer. He rambled on and said a colleague…

Considering Additional Growatt Battery - supplier/installer recommendations
Hey all, So, we have a 4.5kWh (10x 450w) Solar array on the roof, a 3.6KWh Hybrid Inverter and a single 6.5kWh Growatt Battery. Pretty pleased with the system and its performance. Our bills - we're electric only here, rural area - are substantially lower than they once were. We actually tend to build a little credit in the…
