I got a mk2 zetec not long back. I've never really liked the shape, and the black colour is hard to keep gleaming.

My first car was a mk1 ghia. I always liked how nimble if looked and handled & we all know how revolutionary the focus was.

For reasons aforementioned, and the idea of having an extra grand in my pocket for house deposit, I'm seriously thinking of getting a mk1 again.

For my monetary reasons aside, would this be a Good move or reversion into madness?

Mis-sold car p/x, possess v5 for both cars

Purchased a 5 series BMW in exchange for my 3 series and cash from a garage less than a month ago. Car I purchased had private plates, so no V5, was allowed to hold onto my V5 until I received new one in the post.

After a week car lost power, replaced a part for £400, further problems arose related to initial issue, garage ran a diagnostics test, turns out car has been re-mapped using software for 2 different models, so now is unresponsive to corrective actions. Been estimated £2-3K to rectify.

V5 arrived for new car, I still possess the V5 for old one. About to contact seller for the first time about the issue, where do I stand legally, am I able to get a refund? Car was not advertised as re-mapped....appreciate any feedback

Hi all,
Is it possible to get gap cover on a private purchase vehicle?
Having looked around some websites, I noted the mention of needing a VAT invoice which I obviously don't have...
In an ideal world I'd like to cover this for 4/5 years.
Thanks

My son bought a new car on Saturday , he completed an insurance quote online before he got into the car and received a confirmation email . While driving the car home someone crashed into the back of him when he stopped at a red light. The car is beyond repairHe contacted his insurers and they took his details and sent out a tow truck, the police were on site and the guy admitted fault and gave my son his details.
Today he was contacted by his insurers who said he was not actually insured until today as the office was closed over the weekend and the actual certificate had today's date on ( despite my son stating sat date on the application and payment taken from his bank on sat )
My son is now concerned about the other guys insurers as he was in theory driving without insurance.
The insurance company gave him his money back minus £50 cancellation fee as he no longer has a car to insure( odd they can cancel it when it wasn't active til today ) and now he has had a bill from the tow truck.
Can he still claim from the other guys insurers if he had no insurance as the accident was not his fault ?

Will it fail MOT on this, nothing else wrong, in Northern Ireland btw, where MOT seems more stringent..please advise..TIA

Hello,

This may seem like a silly question, I was in a car accident on the 1st of March I was stopped at a red light and a van went into the back of my car.
My insurance has agreed its a no fault claim on my behalf however my car is a convertible and the impact caused the roof not to open, the garage had my car 7 weeks for the repairs to the back of the car then returned it.however when I went to take the roof off it didn't work so it went back to the garage who have yet been able to repair it?
They have now had my car since the 4th of March and there is still no sign of them being able to repair it?
The garage has sent it all round to try and get it repaired however they don't know whats causing the fault with the roof.

Im sick of chasing the garage and driving round in their hire car!
I wondered if the insurance people have to abide by certain timescales or if im stuck waiting weeks on end for my car back?

Hi all,

Looking for some advise as I feel like a fish out of water here.

Have always "Inherited cars" from family members etc. Untill 2 years ago when I was given a company car. My boss has recently changed my package however and given me a car allowance instead of a company car. Basically my wages go up and I don't get a company car any-more.

On doing my research I have narrowed my options down to two:

PCP car X.
PCH car Y.

PCP option is a brand new model (not 1 being driven on the UK roads just now) however its over 3 years and stretches my budget to its MAXIMUM limit!

PCH option is over 2 years, has a lower deposit and is lower cost each month and I get "More car for my money".

On paper PCH is a clear winner?
However, what if I lose my job or my circumstances change?
If (for whatever reason) I cannot afford to make the re-payments 14 months into my agreement, what options do I have? Are they different fro PCP? Would PCP be better in this scenario?

or its there a 3rd option I haven't considered?

Please help, I need to make my final decision next week!

Thanks,

If anyone has wondered about placing an order with CarParts4Less, this is my experience.

I ordered some parts on Friday afternoon using the free 2-4 day delivery option, received an e-mail later stating that the payment had been taken. Parts arrived today (Monday) at noon exactly as ordered, very well packaged, delivered by Yodel.

I normally get parts from local motor factors but the prices for these parts was far less and the service could not be faulted.

Hi guys

Will a not working rear windscreen wiper fail the MOT?

We had to take the fuse out coz the rear windscreen wiper goes off on it's own accord which is most annoying.

Apparently according to a mechanic friend it needs a whole new switch which means the whole indicator unit bit on the steering wheel - this isn't cheap.

Will it fail the MOT?

`Hope this is in the right thread!!

I've just got myself clear of debt, my only outstanding thing is my car finance on my 2009 ford ka. I have £1000 left to pay.

Unfortunately my car is starting to go majorly wrong with 30,000 miles on the clock. A mechanic said the gear box is wearing, the clutch could be on its way out and the abs has a problem.

Its estimated the car is worth £3,500 and the repairs are well over £1,000. I drive my car daily so need something reliable.

I was looking at getting a new Vauxhall corsa on 0% finance over 5 years. For the first 2 years I will be paying the £180 per month on my own. Then me and my partner will be sharing the car so this cost will be halved. (he has a company car at the moment which goes in 2 years and wont be buying another, he hardly uses it so we have decided to share)

I really like the idea of getting a new car with 5 years warranty. I've had 2 used cars that were one year old at the time of purchase that have just gone wrong as soon as they reach 3/4 years old.

Just wanted an outside view as to whether i;m making a wise choice?

In comparison a second hand Corsa (2011 plate, 20,000 miles) from Vauxhall in this range is about £10,000 with 7.9% finance on top. The brand new one is £14,000 at 0%

oh and just so you get an idea of my income. I get paid weekly and take home £332 per week (its £22,000 per annum). My only outgoings are my phone at £15 and a gym at £34 which I probably won't renew. I also pay housekeeping to my mum of £100 (she wont take any more from me!)

Hi Guys,

Went to see a second hand car yesterday for OH at £9300, wanted to PX my car which they would buy for £1000, so it worked out at £8300. My budget is £8000, so was £300 over. Asked the dealer if he could lower the price to suit my budget (I was expecting him to meet me halfway), based on that he's had the vehicle for almost 4 weeks on the four court - but he said he couldn't. I'm going to view other cars today - but I've not bought a vehicle for 5 years - we tend to keep them long. Has the art of haggling in the motor trade died? Had good banter with the salesman though.

Guess I better start looking for cars under my budget.

Cheers

Sue council for lack of planning enforcement?

Hi all,

We are in a very small cul-de-sac with no real room to u-turn cars.

A toddlers daycare center has opened up at the bottom of the cul-de-sac, and as part of their planning permission, they are not to use the road for parents to drop off or pick their kids up (they should use a different entrance).

They've been ignoring this, and cars along the street are getting bumped/scratched as many parents drop and pick up their kids in the morning/late afternoon. The center isn't even full yet, so it's only going to get worse.

The council don't really seem that bothered - is there anything we can do to get them to enforce the planning? Alternatively, and it's probably highly unlikely, can we somehow hold them to account for damage to our cars?

Last summer I had my brake pads and discs changed at a garage in the new town we moved to.

Roll on 10 months, and I've just taken it in to a new garage for MOT. It failed the MOT due to having shot brakes (front and rear). I knew they were playing up hence why I called and scheduled a visit.

He said the rear were in a bad state, I said well the discs are new-ish, as are the pads. He's said that I need to find the paperwork (invoice..) from the last garage and bring it in to him so he can see it.

I'm due to go in tomorrow, unfortunately without the invoice.
I'm not sure how to proceed on this? I dont want to go back to the old garage (not least because I dont think I want to risk driving that far!).

Is there any way of seeking compensation from the original garage? I paid MORE for them to do the work on just the rear, than what the garage tomorrow are charging me for all four.

Hello,

I need to sell my car asap as I have sold my house and will be homeless on 29th May 2013. I still have to find somewhere to rent, probably abroad.

I have a Peugeot 206 CC 1.6 Sport, 2005 reg, 37,000 miles, black cloth seats, flamenco red body, FSH, petrol. No outstanding finance. Based in Central London.

I looked at WeBuyAnyCar.com, but the online valuation they gave was very low and then they charge you just to look at your car.

Does anyone know the best way to guarantee a quick sale, please? Is Autrotrader my best option? What if I don't get a buyer? And how do I choose a valuation to market it at?
