Hi all,
I have a friend and she's currently not working etc...
But she's just had a letter from the IR - Asking about her funds etc..? and what she's been living off?
Now, will she have to pay tax? Even though she's not working?

Hiya, not a professional on this subject, but it may be that if she's not working and not claiming any benefits etc, they will be wondering what she's living off,

She will only have to pay tax if her earnings exceed her tax free allowance £4745.
She needs to declare her total earnings to them no matter the source, unless they are tax free earnings such as interest on ISA's or child benefit.
