DEFINATELY offer less for the car.
The profit margin will vary on each car depending on various factors (e.g. how long it has been for sale). I would guess the average will be around 10-15%.
In your case I would certainly expect to get £500 off but make an opening offer below this. If you offer the window price they will think Christmas has come early!

cheers just been down to have another look at the car the garage reckon they are struggling to get rid of it and have already reduced it by £500. don't believe them though. Mentioned to them that i have seen the same car for sale at another garage around 30 mile away same year low mileage same model etc . But the thing is this vehicle doesn't come in till next week but it is a thousand pound cheaper they reckon £5999 this is the best price they can offer me . not mentioned yet that i'm a cash buyer. just wondering why the vehicle i struggling to move

Maybe leave your details with them and expect a phonecall in a week or two offering it to you for less - worth doing unless you need it ASAP, samething happened with a car I was looking at for a friend.
