Broken a tooth but don't have a dentist

The title says it all really. I chipped a tooth over the weekend and it's agony right now. I am on the waiting list for a local NHS dentist but otherwise am not registered anywhere (haven't been able to afford it and up until now have just looked after my teeth carefully).

Does anyone know how much a cap or filling is likely to cost under these circumstances? I'm pregnant and if I was at the top of the waiting list it would be free, but I doubt I can get that now...

to go private, youd be on about paying £40+ just to get registered with them, but you could ring nhs direct and ask them about a walk-in one that they should know about, or ring up the nhs dentist that youre hoping to get registered with and see if they can actually get you in now, or they should know about a walk in dentist you can go to, hugs and good luck x

There are emergency dentists for these things. Have a search on google for it, my boyfriend had to go to one before we got accepted at our dentist.

Ring up NHS Direct and let them know you have toothache.

There are different 'slots' available for people with emergencies.

Your local health authority should have a number of where you can contact an emergency dentist. Also remind them that you are pregnant and should get free dental care. Would it be worth contacting your mid wife?

In Birmingham we have a dental hospital, where I think you can go in emergencies and obviously being pregnant it should be free.
Are you anywhere near Birmingham? We also have loads of NHS dentists advertising for new patients round here, if you live even vaguely near it might be worth the visit?
