View Full Version : Idea for a new baby - memory package

A friend told me about this idea for a nice thing to do for a new baby

When her nephew was born 16 years ago (and then her niece a couple of years later), She bought copies of the national and local newspapers, range of magazines and chart number 1 vinyl record etc as a keep sake. When they reach 18 years old, they'll be given their birth date packages.

It's a fairly low cost gift but you'll need to store it carefully and remember where you've put it!

Yes i wish i had done that when i gave birth to my children...... Instead, i kept their umbilical cord stumps when they fell off. :-X

Everybody thinks i am sick. I dont, it reminds me that they are a part of me. :'(

Do what the french do, get some decent wine made in the year of their birth and lay it down until their 18th. Could be a good investment ;)

I'm with you Judi,

I've got umbilical cords, first nail clippings and first hair cuts of all three of mine safely tucked away. Not a good investment or money saving, but they always reduce me to tears when I come across them.

I saved every newspaper on the day both my children were born and also bought the cd of the single that was number one. my son was oasis and my daughter was sugarbabes. It's funny to think when I give them their mementos it'll be like my parents giving me an Abba single on my eighteenth birthday.
