You win free basic accomodation for upto 4 persons sharing, including bed linen. All you have to buy when you arrive is your gas/ electricity cards for the meter if you buy to many they will refund you on your departure. The breaks are for either 3 nights (Fri, Sat and Sun.) or four nights (Mon - Fri). You can choose dates between 2nd June and w/k commencing 21st July. You could always ask, because when I said my first date she said the one bedroom accommodation had gone and offered me two bedroom for a supplement of £40 (which can hold six people).

Other supplements I was quoted:

upgrade to standard 2 bed = £40
Upgrade to Classic = £80
upgrade to Gold = £100

I just want to add that I've read some bad reviews about Pontins, although I have never been. Can anyone shed some light on what I can expect when I arrive at my budget accommodation in Camber Sands? Not fussed about the entertainment or activities, don't intend using them. But very interested in anybodies opinions of the accommodation in general

Went to Brean on a sun hol expecting the worst from reviews I had seen, but was fine. Was basic but clean and kids had great time.
Bought tickets for Madonna concert today -hell of a lot easier to get -still on hold!

Yeah not available at all, was told that Brean Sands, Wall Park and Blackpool are not part of the promotion.

I went to Hemsby 2 years ago on free Pontins holiday and took us 7 hrs by car from Cornwall :eek: So wont be doing that again lol hoped on getting a closer park, but as Brean and Wall parks arent available, I didn't bother to book.

I might just book a cheap break to Brean anyway, we went last Oct and kids really enjoyed it, only paid £60 for club accomadation for a weekend, well worth the money.

yeah we would be driving from bristol and are skint so couldnt justify the petrol to go elsewhere!!
i cant understand why wall park isnt available! look on pontins site and they deny all knowledge of it!!!!!!!! it dissapeared when pontins got bought out......but it is still open and trading as normal as pontins this year at least....but the only way i've seen to book it is through sun holidays so i'd hasve thought they'd be falling over themselves to include it!

We went to Camber Sands on a cheapie break 2 years ago and had a basic apartment upstairs. The kitchen area was well equipped and very clean.
Table and chairs, sofabed and tv in lounge were okay.
Bedroom with 2 single beds and wardrobe and side table were fine.
Bathroom had shower, toilet and handbasin. Only problem was mildew on some tiles in the shower. We bought some of that Dettol mildew remover and that sorted the problem out. Also, there was no shower,bathmat so we bought a cheapie £1.00 job fro a Poundshop. Kept it to use on cheapie holidays again!
It wasn't a palace, but for nothing or for next to nothing, we were well pleased.

We've been twice before (The Sun holidays), 2 adults 2 kids 1 bedroom and sofa bed in living area. Both times we found it rather cold, first time our sofa bed was broken and we ended up having to leave it out even though their maintance people came and "fixed" it.
We found it quite clean and kitchen had everything we needed, except mugs they only supply tea cups.
No real problems, obviously you all know to take your own tea towels, loo roll etc??

Thanks op. I told my sister about this as she hasn't had a holiday for years. She is going to ring. It is the usual story for me though. The school is very strict so no holidays in term time. It is a shame as I have been to Pontins before and we really liked it. Much smaller and friendlier than Butlins. And not so overwhelming and noisy either.

Thanks op. I told my sister about this as she hasn't had a holiday for years. She is going to ring. It is the usual story for me though. The school is very strict so no holidays in term time. It is a shame as I have been to Pontins before and we really liked it. Much smaller and friendlier than Butlins. And not so overwhelming and noisy either.

Secondly, take them off sick FFS. The school can do nothing about it!

haven did theirs in March last year. We went the week before it all officially opened. Had a lovely apartment right at the back overlooking the beach and cliffs. weather was quite nice for time of year too. can't see them doing any now the summer is approaching. Been looking out for them constantly but no show. That said easter was early this year so all the parks opened early.

Okay so part of me can see where your coming from, particularly if your one of the people who missed out.

HOWEVER...

I don't really see it as money grabbing. The ethos of this site is 'moneysaving' and if you have legitimately won something isn't it your right to sell it on?

Why should any of us stand as judge and jury over another to say what is right or wrong in this instance. I think its quite resourceful actually and as long as its not abused (one person trying to get LOADS of holidays and selling them on) really what is the harm.

As a person who enters competitions I occassionally win prizes that I'm not that keen on. For example I won 2 tickets to a festival worth £240. I couldn't go so I sold them on ebay. The £180 I received certainly helped towards that summers school uniform and towards expenses on our annual holiday.

Statements like the one quoted above don't make me angry :mad: :mad: :mad:

or shocked:eek: :eek: :eek:

They just make me feel :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

personally i dont think its right to win a holiday knowing full well that you are going to sell it on ebay within the first few days of the competition opening

genuine people out there like myself cannot afford a holiday so go into this competition with the intention of going on the actual holiday

and if this offer is abused in this way then pontins may discontinue this offer and genuine people will lose out

This is still a great offer, as I believe you get the option of a w.e. instead of weekday break and the accommodation is upgraded to a 2 bedroom classic instead of budget grade which also includes free linen.

I agree! Tell your sister and friend to try again. I used about 70 texts this afternoon telling all my friends. Some got lucky first time, some affered the £40 upgrade, some lucky after ringing few times. One friend got one just a few minutes ago.
Last year one of my friends booked 2 pontins freebies for the same time and date because her kids couldn't possibly share a room!!!?? (girl 9 and son 2) And then she decided not to go and sold them on ebay. Havent told her this year!!!

Even tho ive just paid £40 for my break, its still way cheaper than the sun holidays would be.

It would cost £15 (in july) x4 = £60
plus 4 x entertainment passes = £20
plus elec and service charge = £20

Grand total of £100 in haven.

I am really chuffed to be able to go for £40, would of been even better if id got it free, but i guess i have those greedy soddin ebayers to thank for that.:rolleyes:

She looked at ebay on the computor and the same time and saw there were 3-4 people selling these. She was going to take instant action and the police might get involved. So let it be a warning to people that if you intend on SELLING the holiday DON'T it is not worth it for a criminal record.

and for people wanting to put in false bids, remember, is you go to a house auction and bid £1 million over market value just for a laugh when the hammer falls you will be responsable for the closing bid and it may well be you that ends up in trouble.

I went there last year, chalet was fine, larger kitchen than Breen, one bed,bath etc..... trouble was weather was so dire when when we were there! But there are lots of free hols going here and I have a pal who hasn't had a holiday in years and I gave her the code yesterday only to realise last night when I came on that the code had changed.
I rang this morning pretending to be here and the man said they'd all gone. Not too impressed with that as people seem to have still been getting them this afternoon.
However I feel it is unfair for people who'd never get a holidayto miss out because of greedy people selling them on e bay. And I'll bet these people haven't even thanked the Op or may not even be members here.
We could have an "exclusive" section for freebies like this like they do on other forums? There'd still be some unscrupulous people no doubt, but it may lessen it.

Take some old socks with you to Prestatyn. We took a pair each and put em on over our other socks each time we came in pmsl. The floor is MINGING!! (OK I am a fussy cow, but believe me, my DH even said it was the dirtiest floor he'd ever seen on a holiday!)
Tis a good park though; lots to do. Our kids love the 10 foot deep pool

this time i havent tried to get a holiday, but i went on 2 last year both at prestatyn.

there may well be dodgy goings on surounding the ebay selling but i bet there are more than one person that could do with the money rather than the time away from home.

another example is the mention that it is ok to sell a prize when there is only 1 to win as in festival tickets.

i cant be the only person with this view

you are going on about the people who are sellin these on on e-bay and a little bit of me kind of aggrees with you.

but another little bit just thinks thats life and there is nothing we can do about it. today we complain about a free holiday by wednesday we will have forgot about it and be on to something else.

And whats more there are a lot of people on here complaining they or their aunty or there sister best friend didnt win one and there are all these on e-bay. what about all the people who saw this advertised in their local paper went to bed and tried to book it the next day. they actually paid for the paper in the hope of getting a free holiday, it was aimed at them. i bet 95% of the people that have these holidays havent even been to the towns where these publications are.

and for people wanting to put in false bids, remember, is you go to a house auction and bid £1 million over market value just for a laugh when the hammer falls you will be responsable for the closing bid and it may well be you that ends up in trouble.

just one more thing for you to think about.
you are still allowed to play the lottery if you are a millionair, or winn and waste it all on drugs and win again.

so why on earth are the police going to get invoved in this. and if they do what will they put on your criminal record.

I booked one last year at Prestatyn and offered it to friends who needed a break. Phoned to change it into their name and was no charge.

There are people out there with real problems that make your lack of 4 days at pontins seem way way less than pointless

i dont agree with people selling them on ebay,but neither do i agree with wat someone else put about texting 60 or 70 people to tell them,and how many people out there have foned up more than once and booked more than one holiday who havent said anything? in a little way we are being a bit hypocritical cause we dont live in manchester,we havent even bought the paper but we are all still going, i do think its unfair for people to miss out because of greedy people though. there always going to be there,the people that think of there own needs before others,its such a shame that we have a site like this with wonderfull things on it,then youll always get someone who takes the p*ss.
like if there was an offer on at say boots for instace and everything was 75% off youd always get that greedy person that will say,i ordered 50 of those,and then go and sell them,and someone who might genuinley want something for a childs birthday might not be able to get hold of one,the sad thing is,theres nothing we can do about it,some people just have no morals.

i don't think many people will have booked more than one break? it's only over the next couple of months - i couldn't afford the petrol for a second break and the thought never crossed my mind.

but i really don't see your problem with somebody texting 70 people. it's no different to putting it on the internet for 70 people to see. i told 6 friends and relatives and they all got a holiday and in my opinion they deserved it just as much as anyone else who might have seen it here on MSE or another site.

my friends and family don't have a lot of money. some of them read MSE, some don't. some go on the internet daily, some don't. i wanted my friends to have the same chance that i had - i see nothing wrong in that. why are 'others' somehow more deserving than the people i know? i seriously doubt that the 'others' who might have called about this offer a few hours later than my friends did and missed out have any less money than my friends do :confused:
