Pop into any Sainsburys on Friday 16 May and they will give you a free pint of their orange label 1% fat milk or a coupon to claim if stocks are depleted. Basically 1% fat milk has less fat then semi-skimmed, but does not taste as "watery" as skimmed milk. May as well give it a try if its free.

On 30th April, Sainsburys became first supermarket to sell own brand 1% fat milk. It contains 40% less saturated fat than semi skimmed. The good news is, in taste tests 2 out of 3 people couldnt tell the difference. All of which adds up to us being 100% confident youll like it.:j

Full fat milk is only 4% fat anyway. Any other product with that percentage would be sold as low fat!

Full fat 4%
Semi-skimmed 1.7%
Skimmed 0.3%

I have been buying the 1% at 5p a pint as no one wants to buy it my locals.

So have been buying it on reduced to clear and freezing it.

And sainsburys have re-labed all there milk so it is now 1%, 2% etc.

I paid 15p a pint last night for it. It's been reduced every night this week when I go in and it's just been in the last week or so that my local Sainsbury has had it in stock.

I will def. try it out. Although this link seems to show that they are giving it free all weekend, I hope they are as I can't get there on Friday.

Hi All

This is from the Sainsburys website

To celebrate the launch of our new milk, we're giving away coupons instore for a free pint of our 1% fat milk, or 40p off a larger size between 16-23 May. So give it a try!

I seen it last weekend when I was shopping - it was in the reduced bit - I take skimmed milk anyway - don't find it watery at all - the long life one even tastes a wee bit creamy. I find when I drink full fat now it feels like I am drinking single/pouring cream.

Kind wishes

It's not full fat!!
It is 1% fat somewhere between semi-skimmed and skimmed.

It seems to freeze ok. Husband say it makes it tea look a little grey so he leaves the tea bag in longer :rotfl:

But for 5p a pint I can hardly turn my nose up at it can you.

Used to have 1% when visiting Mum in the States...and there's nothing wrong with it as far as I could taste, unless their cows are different to ours LOL.....I only take semi skimmed which is 2% so I'll be giving this a go...but if I remember correctly, there are a lot of different percentages and thicknesses of milk on the Isle of Jersey...and THAT milk is just ...delicious - totally different in taste too...and Jersey cows are the most gorgeous creatures...anyway...I'm digressing here...so I'll shut up now...;)

Just have come back from Sainsburys. The voucher is handed out at the till, though I had to ask for it. There are posters around the store and at the check out so there should be no problems (but its never that easy). Voucher for a free 1 pint red top (1 % fat) or 40p of 4 pint milk. Expires 30th May

One pint per flippin' customer at my Sainsburys Local...the bigger Sainsburys is way way way over the other side of the city and I'm skint...and walking everywhere...anyhoo...the place was empty so I took the opportunity to grab a ton of coupons...and I will try again tomorrow for more than a pint if Ms Pedantic Student with a serious hangover isn't slouching at the till...there were lots of pints left, surely they'd not have missed me walking out with 4!!! Roll on tomorrow...;) anyhoo...off for a cuppa with my 1% FREE milk...

There were big stacks of the vouchers at the Sainsburys metro in Holborn today, so I grabbed a handful - the vouchers are valid until 30/05 so even though it's one pint per customer, I'll just use them slowly over the course of the next fortnight...

Lucky you/well done - I wish I shopped in your branch - I noticed that the SA didn't give the two customers in front of me a coupon and she wasn't going to give me one either until I asked.

if you get the chance over the next fortnight just grab some...an empty till maybe or if the place is quiet...if you have a Sainsburys Local try there...I went in mid lunch time and the place was completely dead...although the queues outside Greggs and Subway were out onto the pavement...LOL...if you like, I'll grab some for ya and post em...pm me if you'd like...not a problem for me...

I only popped in on the offchance this evening on the way home from work and read the offer (or so I thought!) on the milk fridges. When I got to the till, I asked if they had any vouchers left, and the guy tried to fob me off with an information leaflet telling me about the different milks on offer. Luckily the guy on the till next door overheard and gave me a leaflet. I asked if I could take the pint with me and he said yes, so I dashed back and picked up a pint of skimmed milk, which is what we always buy...:p

The milk was scanned, then the voucher was scanned, and I left with my free milk.:D It wasn't until I just found this thread that I realised that I was supposed to have had the 1% stuff. The voucher worked for me on skimmed milk...?!

Piglet

P.S. Didn't get the chance to pick up more than one voucher though...might pop back tomorrow morning! ;)

Hi everybody! does that mean that coupons are still available until when? I went to my local sainsburys today and you have to be very assertive about the coupons as the staff are very stingy1 they dont even offer it to you although you could see a thick wad of it in the tills...

I can't sree adate on the coupons I have but on the website it says it started yesterday. There were loads in my store by all tills and nobody else was picking them up so I availed myself of several and now have a freezer full of milk. I also picked up the free long life milk from the Sainsburys mag coupon!!

Geez, my timing's all shot to heck and back...first, I get there this morning armed with two coupons (I'll try anything once)..get into the store, pick up two pints, brandish both at the till and then *Darren* the *Asst Manager* decides to *help* Susie the new girl on the till and promptly tells me quite rudely that it's one pint per customer...so I try the old - *I only want two.." and he's like- "come back tomorrow for another"...cheeky oik!! So I put down both coupons and put a pint on each.."one pint, one coupon..what's the harm in that?? 24 hours early for one more.." He just shook his head.. But, I remained calm and resisted the urge to slap his condescending chops...strikes me, Sainsbury's would rather you use the damn coupon to get a bigger size and pay for that rather than give away a free pint...aaaaggghhhh...rant over...for now....;)

Weird, the voucher I got says it's valid until May 30th. The 1% milk is nice though.
