Friend of mine told me about this new site

Just need to register to receive free bulbs and to be entered into a prize draw

Excellent find, free123.

For registering, they send you 2 "Philips 20w BC PLET 12 year stick" bulbs. They sell these for £4.79 each. You are also entered into a free draw for a decent home appliance (dishwasher, washing machine, etc).

I look forward to getting my lamps!

And thanks, free123!

Had a good look around this site now and it's really quite cool!

They only sell home appliances (fridges, washing machines, dishwashers etc.) that are approved by the governments energy savings trust which means that they all save us money in the long run.

I've checked on the web and it looks like it's also the cheapest place to buy decent low energy light bulbs.

All prices quoted include p&p which is really quite refreshing!

Theres also a section which tells you what energy efficiency grants or free offers are available in your local area. I got offered discounts from Britrish Gas and NPower on home insulation. Too bad I'm already done.

I'm going to check the prices on the washing machines, fridges etc. on kelkoo and pricerunner etc. and I'll post back.

thanks!!

Wattage is low ......

Yeah but they're energy efficient ones so ..

"20 watt energy saving light bulb is the equivalent of a 100 watt traditional light bulb" !;)

OOps, and a big 'Thank You' to free123 for the link http://smilies.sofrayt.com/fsc/clap2.gif

Hi All

Just had a look at this site - the free prize draw looks great. One of the prizes is worth about £650!!

I've done a quick price comparison and they're really pretty competitive. If you register and receive your free bulbs within 3 or 4 days I'd say their service levels are bang-on. I actually rang them earlier cos I had a question regarding the freebies.....they answered within 3 rings and the person at the end of the phone was extremely knowledgeable (and polite).

Bet they run out of freebies pretty soon!!

Has anyone received their bulbs yet? I've registered but there's no mention of the bulbs in the confirmation email..

Great site though, and their bulbs are cheaper than the ones in my local supermarket so I'll certainly be getting them from here from now! - These beasties are great, they last years and save a ton on the electricity bill..

Thanks free123!

WOW!

I only added this post on Thursday afternoon and most of us have received our freebies within 24 hours!

Is this a record>? ;D

Well done to iguanadirect.co.uk

I hope they've got enough of thes lightbulbs for the rest of the MSE community.

I was hoping for the fridge freezer in the draw so maybe I should have kept this to myself! :-/

Anyway, I'm very very pleased with my first post. ;D

Let me know when you get your bulbs.

(I've emailed Iguanadirect to admit to this post and got a lovely reply)

Got mine this week, too.

Those who advertise freebies then do not deliver should take note!

Thanks again, free123, and what a great first post it was!

Ordered on Thursday and got the Bulbs on Friday. Excellant service.

Only problem is at me end. The bulbs are baynot (spelling???) and all my fitting are screw type. Can't blame iguana direct for that.

Really useful as we have just swapped most of our incandesents to LE but have two more that I wanted to do. Because the lights aren't as often used as the others I couldn't justify changing them based on the cost/savings basis. So bloody marvelous freebie, thankyou ;D

Great - got mine this week too, thanks! I use these bulbs anyway as they last loads longer than normal bulbs. The problem I find is getting longlife bulbs for unusual sized lights e.g. spotlights or candle lights.

I also checked out the section on the website where you can put in your postcode for information on energy saving grants, I might be able to get money towards a new boiler, which could come in handy as ours is on the blink...!
Well done Iguana.

just recieved 2 of these philips 20w energy saver light bulbs this morning. Both these bulbs are faulty, when the light is swithed off they flash every 5 or 6 seconds.
I've just phoned iguanadirect 0845 11 22 247 and they said they've had a lot of calls about these, told me not to use them and they will send me out 2 more which will be a different brand.

My complaint is genuine but a good excuse for anyone who has already recieved some to send for some more me thinks!

Both my bulbs rattle but they work fine when switched on its just when switched off that they flicker on and off sounds very strange but true.

The rattle is normal, and not broken at all.

I have these bulbs in my house before the offer and they do all rattle.

The flickering when switched off is usually caused by using a non-standard light switch, such as a dimmer or timer switch.

It is not recommended to use dimmers or electronic switches with energy saving bulbs. It does actually say this on the box

Many of the £1 stores have 60W equivalents.

They are generally nowhere near as good as the Philips ones, the poundland ones generate a nasty bluish light

Interesting to see others have had similar problems.

Will use number listed in previous post to try and get a replacement.

The ones in Poundland really aren't worth the effort.. It's incredible - they're that intense (and white) that you can't look near them, but they're so pathetic they can't light our small bathroom.. And it's not as if we do any precision carving in there or anything... :-/

Mine arrived today! I asked for them MONTHS ago - November? I wonder what the holdup was? Still, better late than never and a really good post, thanks "free123".
