Hope this is the correct slot for this. My mum for years suffered from back problems. It was eventually found that one of her legs is almost half an inch shorter than the other. To remedy her backpain she had special insoles made. Although they gave her a pair of insoles one is built up more than the other. They look like normal shoe insoles as she obviously has to take them out each time she changes her shoes. The problem is the good old NHS will only give her one pair every 18 months or so even though she has offered to purchase a new pair and wont give her the supplier details (she gets them from the hospital). Does anyone know somewhere we can get her more insoles - obviously she cant be without them too long (about 2 days max) before her back starts to hurt. She is always on her feet and does loads of walking.

Find a Podiatrist (http://www.feetforlife.org/cgi-site/chiropodist.cgi) and they will measure and fit an insole.
However another way which may be worth it is to take her shoes to the local shoemender you will find them many are quite used to Height increasing (http://www.taylormadeshoes.co.uk/ReadyMade/StatusShoes/index.htm) and will willingly raise one shoe only by a centimeter or so and this may be all that is needed. Some also sell Orthotics To Go (http://www.taylormadeshoes.co.uk/Orthotics/index.htm)

My son had a similar problem. He had recurrent injuries including back pain.We got no-where at the GP's.As he was a runner at the time his athletics club got us an appointment at a sports injury clinic at a discount. They told us thet he needed a bio-mechanical examination to determine what orthotics he needed for his shoes to help correct the problem. It was going to cost over £100 and we could ill-afford it,but made the appointment anyway as it seemed essential.
In the meantime , I heard that it was possible to get the exact treatment on the NHS.We self referred to a local podiatry clinic and got the orthotics there, and cancelled the private clinic appointment.
Hopefully,if you scout around your area, you will find something similar.
