Hello,

Do you want to invest or save? You say invest but then mention interest rates which suggests you dont want to invest but save instead.
I'd be grateful to know what the best options are either way.

I'd be grateful to know what the best options are either way.I suspect your request may be a little "too" general.
If it's ordinary savings accounts with banks/building societies etc, then check out the comparison websites such as www.moneyfacts.co.uk and www.moneysupermarket.co.uk
There is a wealth of material in Martin's savings articles which can be accessed through the yellow "savings" box to the left of this screen. Look for something called the "savings fountain" where it talks about priorities, ie cash ISA first, then regular savings drip-feed, and finally, high interest instant access accounts (usually internet based).
If it's "investment" advice you need, you won't get it on here. It's a specialist area involving thorough identification of your needs and attitude to risk.
I know I'm not really answering your question but hopefully I've given you something to read up on.

That is actually an excellent answer.
