View Full Version : slimming pills
hello
I need to lose some weight before I go on holiday in june and was looking at a quick fix way, I have been taking adios but there hasn't been a any weight loss!!!
I can't go to a gym as I am a single parent to a two year old so don't have time.
I have been looking on ebay but most of these are a con, someone suggested "chesteze" but boots no longer stock this.
Anyone any ideas?

I can't talk from personal experience but I really don't think buying slimming pills off the internet, especially ebay, is a good idea. Could you fit in a 20 min brisk walk a day? it would be much more beneficial.
Hello jan03
I'll move your thread to the 'Health & Beauty' board.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=1009335#post1009335)) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com (abuse@moneysavingexpert.com).

i have two kids and work full time, if you want to you can find the time. sometimes im doing my exerise dvd at 10pm, for 25 minutes. personally i like adios, it does work for me but ive always taken 2 or 3 at a time (it says 1-2) but they cant do any harm. NEVER buy pills off eBay, you dont know where theyre from or whats in them, what if you get sick and your kids around? i know that sounds drastic but it could well happen

Lots of counterfeit slimming pills on the internet. Why not try a diet?

Unfortunatly, i don't have a lot of will-power!!! I do have some exercise equipment at home, use it occasionaly but always end up getting board, lol!

Hi Sue
No these are red and pink they come in a blue and white box with loads of chinese writing on. They are possibly the same one but in a different colour capsule?

Thanks for the reply steph, do they suppress your appetite? My friend also says she has felt a bit hyper too.

I hate to be a big wet lettuce, but all these pills do is make you lose retained water, and make you feel sick instead of hungry. Sometimes they make you go to the loo loads. I find drinking tons of water - thirst is misinterpretated as hunger a lot of the time, have smaller portion meals and cut down on the carbs. Green Tea is good as this is proven to burn fat - a few cups a day will help, and not break the bank.
xx:beer: oh! If you drink try and cut down on the booze!xx
I don't really relish the thought of drinking green tea, can you buy a pill form of this from a health shop?

Im gonna sound like a right old cow now, but it seems OP that you're just after a quick fix without putting any effort in.
The ONLY way to loose weight is healthy diet, and plenty of exercise.
sorry.
My best friend has been getting slimming pills from the doctor and earlier this week was rushed to hospital with suspected heart-attack most probably brought on by the pills. She's only 27 and really thought her time was up.
This goes to show that there can be complications even by doing it through the right route, getting them from the internet you don't know if you've got what it says on the packet.
If you want to lose weight please, please do it the right way by doing exercise and eating properly.

Xenical / Orlistat. Works like a charm. Isn't prescription. It's a pancreatic function modifier that stops you metabolising as much fat. Unfortunately you pay by being nailed to the toilet and poop yourself in the street randomly. It's like pooping vegetable oil.
Don't buy off internet - it's probably illegal and risky.
Avoid the chinese stuff like the plague - some of it is highly carciogenic and most of it is not licensed for sale in the UK due to these problems. You're probably killing yourself taking it.
Seriously - the best thing is exercise and diet changes. That is the only "magic" solution.
Orlistat is what my friend was on( i think). It is on prescription but only recently, as she did say its a new pill.

I think Hoodia works well. It has been discussed before on here.

Xenical is prescription only in the UK. Some Boots stores have a scheme where they can supply it without a prescription, but this is done privately, not under the NHS. Roche are applying for a half strength version of Xenical to be available over the counter, but not sure what evidence they have to support that dose.
Xenical inhibits an enzyme called lipase, and so reduces the amount of fat that is absorbed - it doesn't affect the pancreas, and doesn't affect metabolism of fats. Xenical can cause problems if diet isn't changed - the fat that isn't absorbed can't just sit in your intestines for ever, it has to go somewhere.

i have used orlistat/xenical prescribed by the doctor.
it is a nightmare if you can't stick to a very low fat diet.
as anything with a bit of fat in that passes your lips comes back out very shortly and it is like pooing out orange greasy fat.
i gave up on them as if i could stick to a non fat diet i wouldn't have needed them in first place.
i had constant stomach ache but i did lose 12lb in 4 weeks so i suppose they do work.
to get them your doctor has to say yes and you have to be weighed every 2 weeks to start with.

Strap lil one in the buggy and go for a good long walk, get the heart rate going.
Your local council run sports center has creches and toddler places and you can join up to the sports centre for about £1 or £2, just need to take proof of benefit.
Take the lil one swimming, good fun for both of you.
I really wouldn't recommend slimming pills, you may think they would work until you stop taking them, and you can't take them forever!

Hi
this site has lots of information about slimming tablets and diet pills http://www.slimmingtablets.info
Just to update, I did buy some pills from ebay, Metabo Extreme.
I take one every 4 hours just before food and have lost 7lb in weight.
These stop me craving sweet things, such as biscuits and crisps, and I drink more water now. I have had no side affects from them.
Started off at 12.5 stone, now down to 11.12stone.

I looked at the slimming pills info site... Great info... I have tried some myself and found the safest and most effective where the lipotropic types...
Just now I went on ebay.co.uk and entered
"lipotropic weight loss cheapest"
I saw that there were some quite cheap ones available for sale that I tried and worked well before... Just stay away from those stimulant ones!!!
Thanks

Don't buy Adios they are a total waste of money,I was told by a doctor that you will get the same diuretic effect from eating a two inch piece of cucumber as you do from two of these tablets.Much cheaper as well.
