I have it very bad this year.
Does anyone have any tips for easing the symptoms?
Thanks.

I get HF in May/June (grass pollen). I have to hit it three-ways - tablets, nasal spray and eye drops. If I just use one or two out of the three it doesn't work. Best to get advice from your GP.

I'm the same as marybishop, plus an inhaler and steriods (yes, I rattle!).
It does seem very early for hay fever. You really need to see your doctor to eliminate the myriad of things that it could be.

My husband suffers and has already started. It does seem very early but the GP confirmed it when he went for something else. He has the nose spray and tablets. It only goes properly when we go to Scotland.

Apparently according to the GP on BBC Breakfast yesterday HF is caused by tree pollen at the mo (I think she said birch) and it does appear to be starting earlier. Also it can start at any age!

You could try moving to Scotland or Wales, part of Northern England or Cornwall! :rotfl:
Are you affected by an itchy mouth if you eat apples or stone fruits? If so you may have a birch tree allergy, which is prevalent at this time of year.
Have a look at www.goodtoknow.co.uk (http://rc12.overture.com/d/sr/?xargs=15KPjg17dSnpamwr%2DvfLzLTeOHylwaxca58M5oDJB wH9Zf5iMxXOJ3aKvEnsVxTOVxv1PdyPOS9KIULPv4mf6DGwaOT VWIGvWugoHHyoM7M6il4ed%5F2L4uzuLomoVINHpSWlvxdNC%2 DnvidYX7JD1A4pswOzB6e%5FPhrxs20xOYIQevVig0sskqFc5Z 15KBfhM62WpkMT7JQCq%2DdhXfFfZwQ%2D%2DxYkeytOyQXXC2 m7Wca9VeHIC55v6zJdJELubDny9uVP7a7yZtOMxXa4qU25UbHg G4u%2D5wyc2CCuYN4xlMFXfqrbWuD1WRn9fKwyam0fY064nnyG JWFASCzbEptLR0kZvmpDG%2DdKGc49E%5FFfpVQIMSv2xOO) and www.pollenuk.co.uk (http://www.pollenuk.co.uk)

I've yet to find anything that works - and I think I've tried most things (except for the injection you can have - and that's mainly down to the fact that I can never get a Drs appointment). I am allergic to trees and grass so I have hayfever most of the year - plus I have asthma so at times I really struggle to breathe. I've even tried herbalism, homeopathy and acupuncture and they haven't worked either.

Lloyds Pharmacy have their version of the 'Medinose' on offer again. I've just started a thread about it on 'Grabbit'!

noonesperfect - your comment about fruits relating to silver birch is a total revelation! it had never occurred to me to make that connection before and I've been able to find out loads now. Have a big THANKS!

I think if you live by the sea it helps ease your hay fever, all that sea air.
I never got hay fever until I was 25 and my DS got it when he was about 6/7. I find that if I put vaseline round my nostrils this eases my symptoms slightly.

I think its best to pay your GP a visit. My boyfriend gets it really bad and nothing we have tried from the shops works....and believes me we have tried many. A couplre of years ago he went to doctors and they prescribed him some stronger strenght stuff and that reslly helps.

.
I developed hay fever when I lived beside the sea but it faded to almost nothing when I moved to a city centre (no gardens!) and started again when I moved to a sub-urban area.

if you can get it , try locally produced honey which hopefully will be made up of the pollens that are causing h/f
