Does anyone know of any places in London where I can go for waxing/ beauty treatments at reduced rates?

Can anyone personally recommend any of these places?

Many Thanks!

Sorry can't help with London, but my niece has used training colleges [NI] - they do all the beauty service stuff. Very good too. Ring around your local ones. They are always looking for folk to practice on and are supervised by qualified beauticians. HTH.

Hi Tigersilly,

Sorry, missed your post yesterday.

To my knowledge, there are three main places in Central London - the London College of Beauty Therapy (LCBT) (http://www.lcbt.co.uk/aboutlcbt/salon/), the London School of Beauty and Make-up (http://www.lond-est.com/student_salon/), and the Ray Cochrane Beauty School (http://www.raycochrane.co.uk).

The first two are near Oxford Circus, the third is near Baker Street.

I have only tried the LCBT - I had a lovely facial there a few weeks ago. It was only £15 for over an hour of pampering. They have a very smart nail bar in the front part of the salon, and for other treatments you get taken out into a back room and it's like a six-year-old girls' pyjama party :rotfl: all the student therapists have a uniform of pink-trimmed white overalls and slippers, and the room has crystal chandeliers on the ceiling and tinkly piano music playing over the muzak system :D There are curtained cubicles down either side of the room, a bit like a hospital ward, and that's where you go with your individual therapist to get your treatment. The only slightly negative aspect is that it's quite noisy as you're effectively in the same room as a lot of other people.

You have to fill in a form before you start (this might just be the first time you go) and at the end of the treatment, you have to fill in another one to say how you think the therapist did.

As you would expect from a college environment, not all treatments are available at all times - it depends on the level of qualification of the students who are going to be on shift when you go for your treatment. Before booking, it's best to have a couple of alternatives as to what you want to have done, and what time slot you can manage.

As for the outer parts of London I'm not sure. I know Lewisham College has a student salon too (click (http://www.lewisham.ac.uk/Facilities/Beauty) and scroll down the page for details of opening hours etc) but that south-east corner of London is kind of my speciality - there must be similar in other local vocational colleges, anywhere where beauty therapy courses are offered.

HTH!
