Kia Carens help needed with back seat catches.

We have a Kia Carens 2004 reg automatic. My dh used to use it as his work van as well as our family car, so we had the back seats up and down quite a bit. The thing is both the handles on the back seats which you pull to unlock the catch have no both broken so we are stuck with the seats in the up position! Does anyone out there know how we can resolve this issue as cheaply as possible? DH is saying we are going to have to get rid of the car and get something else - unfortunately funds won't stretch to a decent replacement car!

For those of you who aren't Kia Carens owners - the back seats have handles in the seats about halfway down the side and these are on elastic so you pull on these handles and they then unlock so you can fold the back seat down. The elastic has now snapped off!

You'll have to open the seats up, which probably means removing them. It won't be difficult, they'll only be held in by 2 or 4 bolts.

The replacement parts will be available from the local dealer. Don't let them fob you off with a complete new seat either. In fact for a 2004 car I'd try and get them to replace under warranty, Kia customer services I believe are pretty good.

Take the trim off on the seat hinge and pull the seat cover up a bit and you can release manually, silly design always snapping.
