Hello, dont know if right thread so feel free to move it.

I want to send a collegue a birthday card and it would be great if i could put some braille on it to say "happy birthday" is there anybody who could print this out in braille (i will send SAE for it) or anywhere i could buy a braille card from?

Unfortunately he is the only person i know with a braille reader and i cant ask him can i?

Have you a local 'Institute for the Blind' or other similar organisation? If so maybe they have those machines or perhaps sell items that are specific for their members like braille brithday cards.

I think it's a sweet idea and if you do get hold of one i am sure your friend will be really touched!

I tried working it out with full-stops (used to be a sighted Braille proof-reader) but gave up and thought, there must be a website! And there is. This is from The Braille Bug (http://www.afb.org/braillebug/) http://www.afb.org/braillebug/clear_pix.gif

Before you get too confused, the first dot in each word shows that the next letter is a capital, so you have .Happy .Birthday

Now, what I would do is print that off, stick it into the card with repositional sellotape, gently press down on the dots with an old biro till you make a small dent in the card, then turn the card over and press the dents up!

You could add his name even!

Smashing idea, btw.

Don't know if this is of any help but last time I was in Clinton Cards they had 3 different braille birthday cards. Not a great choice but better than nothing.
