Hi Guys/Gals

I have a Renault Megane 1.6i 03 plate with 25000 on clock.

I currently get 320 out of £27 of gas in it. I converted my own car to gas with DIY kit

What car have you got and how many miles do you get out of tank. How much to fill it?

I just wanted to have a comparsion so I know my gas are setted correctly.

Thank you for your time and replies

How much is your gas costing per litre? so the £27 is how many litres gas?

Is the 320 miles including any running on petrol for example you might do 1 - 3 miles each day on petrol before switching to gas.

Assuming you are paying 50p litre that is 54 litres LPG assuming 100% LPG miles that is .26.9 mpg which should mean you get about 31 mpg when you run on petrol.

So the question is, What was your average miles on a full tank of petrol?
xxx miles for xxx litres petrol?

To answer your question I drive a
Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 LPG
I get 37 litres LPG in the tank and it takes me 300miles (36 mpg)
On petrol I get 44 mpg.

I'm still new to my car, so I am currently still doing mileage testing. I am a bit unhappy with the petrol mpg it should be closer to 50mpg, and the LPG should be about 41. So I intend to run a few tests to see if I can improve it.

Have you had you conversion checked to make sure its safe and have you notified your insurance company?

I have put in 2 quid petrol for every full tank of gas. I suppose to have a 70 litres tank but i hear that you must take away 20% off it due to gas capicaity so 56 litres apporx £28 quid. So sounds about right.

Funilyy my petrol indicator do go down as i drive more mileage but I have been told that the petrol inidcator follows the trip computer and works out from the mileage, MPG and average speed in order to get more accurate reading of level. I ignore it as once petrol really go right down, it goes back up to same position of last time when I filled it up! (little bit off for petrol usage when starting up)

When I drive around on my trip computer (I dont think it is accurate it goes from 22MPG to 30MPG, but averaging at about 27MPG). According to Parkers I should be on
Imperial Urban (cold) 31.0 Imperial Extra Urban 50.4 Imperial Combined 40.9

I find this very strange! I should be on more than that.

Booked in for next week. I do work with gas and I do know that this installation I have done is safe and there are no leaks at all connections. Should pass (finger cross ha ha). I have just completed it 4 weeks ago and I just wanted to test it for a month. Insurance will be notified once pass the LPGA

I think the figures manufacturers quoted MPGs' are taken from ideal driving and often exceed what is possible for most people's everday driving.

You would normally achieve 80 to 85 % of the petrol MPG using gas. I am getting about 28 to 30 MPG on gas. The literature for my car claims a 31 urban, 45 drinving like a saint on a motorway and combined 37. I never acuraretly checked it on petrol despite having it 3 years prior to conversion,, but I doubt I ever averaged 37, probably 33 to 35 at best.

Mine is a Citroen and suffers the same dropping petrol gauge problem. If you are only using £2 of petrol to a tank of gas, you are doing well there. I use more than double that, but it is affected by the number of start ups and I do a fair few.

How many miles you get for how much? LPG only

How many miles you get for how much? LPG only

How many miles did you get prior to conversion for how many litres of petrol only?

This is the only way you will be able to tell if your car is running ok on LPG, by comparing the LPG to your own cars petrol mpg.
