View Full Version : missing locking wheel nut "key"
I have an Avensis with locking wheel nuts but I cannot remember ever receiving a "key" (is that the right term?).
I also have a Yaris with locking wheel nuts, but I do have the "key". Will the key for the Yaris work on the Avensis?

No chance of it working. Have you searched the car? mostly people keep them in the glovebox., but could be anywhere. With wheel changing tools?

On my Ford fiesta i have locking wheel nuts, and i also have the key to it.... someone at my place of work had a Focus and needed the wheel nut key. My fiesta one worked on her Focus, but im not sure about a Yaris and the Avensis...

Could have just got a larger socket and hammered it over the bolt, and unscrewed that.
Cost = £5.

Nip down to your Toyota agent and befriend someone in the service bay and ask them if you could borrow their master sockets so you can work out which brand new locking wheel nut you need to buy from their over priced parts dept. Once you've found the correct one (there are normally about 25-30 different combinations) then get on ebay and get one for a fiver...

I lost my wheel nut key a few weeks back....luckily the indie dealer that I got my service from had a master key and took them all off for £5. Went to Halfords and bought some Mcguards for £25..but as harveybobbles says you can get them from ebay much cheaper.

A new set would not be expensive - just go to local toyota dealer. Expect new set to be around £20. Sorted.
