Not going to WI today, as I usually go at 10am and as it's Bank hol there's only one meeting today, at 6.30.
But I've just weighed myself at home and by my reckoning I've lost 3 or 4lb this week so I've reached my first stone! Can't wait to have another good week and then have a fabulous "official" weight loss next week!!
Looking good weather today so going to make some home-made Minted Lamb Koftas to have on the BBQ later with loads of salad!
Hope everyone has a good day

well, I weighed myself this morning and have lost 5lb since last Monday - wonderful what having a horrendous tooth extraction can do. The pain is still quite bad but I have got to go back this Friday to see the dentist. I can't even think of going on the eating plan but am trying to be sort of sensible. I look forward to when I don't have to cut the crust off the bread! And a piece of toast - drool, drool.

Awww, sending you hugs through cyber space. Well done on the weight loss but it sounds a pretty painful way to achieve it! Hopefully things will get better for you soon.

Hi
This is my 2nd attempt at Slimming world and i rejoined last week.
I am having a real problem using all my syns for the day, I know that I am allowed between 5 and 15 but my average for the day is about 5.
I am not denying myself anything, I dont drink or eat crisps but my downfall is chocolate. It is my addiction, I cant eat a chunk and be satisfied I need to binge, hence the reason i am overweight.
I have been avoiding all chocolate and satisfying my sweet tooth with grapes and yogurts. Oh and alpen light bars.
It is day 5 day today and i have had 3 green and 2 red days. My totaly syns today were 7, most of them on sweet potatoes (red Day) I just love them.
Will my lack of syns stop me loosing weight? I do eat a lot, lots of fruit and veg. I am not restricting my food at all, just avoiding chocolate.
thanks
I understand your reasoning re the chocolate, but you know, Slimming World shouldn't be seen as a diet - it is a healthy eating plan which, if you follow it for ever, will see you never gain the weight again (I know, I know, easier said than done!). But, if you deny yourself something which you love so much, it will take over your life.
All you will do is think about it, dream about it even! The best way to beat it (or at least play along with it) is to allow yourself one thing that you can look forward to all day.
Only buy one not a multipack and you can only eat one. Low syn chocolate bars are numerous, but one of the best for lengthy satisfaction (if you'll pardon the expression) is a Curly Wurly. They are around 6 syns (if my memory serves) and if you chop them up and keep in the freezer, they take ages to eat and you'll be getting your 'fix'.
Another way, which works for me is to have a chocolate Options (or similar). You can have 2 in a large mug for 4 syns and again, they take a while to sip and take away the craving.
Work with your natural needs, don't try to deny them or it won't work long term.
Back to your original question - having just 5 syns a day won't harm your slimming plan, (but don't go below 5) - the main problem with only having a few is that if your weight loss slows down, you have nothing to cut back on to speed things up again.
Hope this helps

Are you eating enough free foods?
Are you weighing your syns and healthy extras properly?
Are you drinking enough water?
Are you sure you're following the plan 100%?
Please don't be offended, but usually if someone fails to lose weight it's because they're doing something wrong. Double check everything in your book, make sure you're not getting foods muddled from a red day to a green day. Post up a food diary for us to check if you wish, but do put your the weights of anything other than free foods down as well.

Hi, After doing Weight Watchers for a while I have decided to revert back to Slimming World again hoping for better results but don't really want to pay for class every week (almost £5 a week!!!). Would anybody possibly be able to let me know the password for the syns online calculator each week???? Thanks :j
Shazrobo, I find that if I am having problems a food diary is excellant (but have to be honest) Also keep checking your book if you have been on the plans for a while it is so easy to think you know most of the weights ect.Chin up and next weigh in you will have a huge loss !!!!

Well done, all you losers and stay-the-samers - and condolences if you've gained!
I've lost 1/2lb this week, 1st 4lbs in total. I have only lost 2 lbs over the last three weeks so it's a loss, but it's agonisingly slow! I am only about 6 lbs from target now so can probably expect it to level out a bit.
My consultant suggested I should try Success Express this week. Anybody got any food plans I could steal? I'm not sure I can manage 2 days on Success Express, as she suggested, as I have looked at the week ahead and it's going to be busy. I will make sure I fit one day in, it's got to be worth a try!

hello everybody!
been busy with new job and son kidnapped laptop so not been logging on!
all i can RE bananas is 'THANK GOD I HATE THEM'!personally, although i think SW is a really good plan generally, the banana debate highlights it's weaknesses.if you have ONLY 1 mashed banana per day or 3 'actually chewed in your mouth' and everything else the same according to the plan then OBVIOUSLY it is better to have them mashed!!!!!like i said,i absolutely HATE them but now you all no how upset i am about the avocado situation!!!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hi everyone :hello:
I came across this thread by accident, and thank goodness I did.
I’m trying desperately to lose weight, but for some reason it’s just not moving  I have a treadmill at home which I work out on burning 1000 calories a day.
I’m unable to join SW / WW as at present my finances won’t allow it (were on a DMP :o and in the process of an IVA application :o ) therefore may I join this thread for support and advice.
We are on a fixed budget :o I’ve heard it said that home cooking is cheaper than ready meals however, the problem is neither me nor my partner are into home cooking, (wouldn’t know where to begin tbh) we buy mostly ready meals for both convince, cost, and the hassle as I’m a meat eater, my partner is vegetarian
If anyone can spare the time to offer any advice, I’d be very grateful

Morning
Weigh in today, but I'm positive I have put weight on this week. We had two Indian takeaways over the weekend, so I have no-one to blame but myself :D
We're on holiday next week, in this country in our caravan, so I will have to be careful or I will put loads back on.
I'll come back later and let you know how I get on,keep your fingers crossed for me

I think in your case, if you have to buy ready meals etc, is to calorie count and bulk out those meals with fresh or frozen veg. Low fat yoghurts or fruit if you like something sweet. Porridge or basic bran flakes for brekkie.
Get yourself to a Lidl. Their frozen veg is easily on a par with Waitrose and very cheap. Shop the market for fresh fruit and veg but bear in mind these perish more quickly, only in my opinion!
I am struggling to lose a further seven pounds myself, been following slimming world but I think I have lost my motivation. I have decided to calorie count for a month and see if that will shift a little. I will then continue with SW plan. It is a very healthy way to eat. Good luck. I am sure lots of people will have advice for you. We are all struggling at some stage. Getting motivated, getting weight off and most of all keeping weight off! Darn that chocolate.:)

Morning gang:hello:
I feel great this morning:j. I've lost the 4lbs I had gained (told you I felt bloated:eek:) and am at least back to where I was at my lowest. As I am not on a specific plan now, I just have to be honest to myself about what I can have. I know all about calories and healthy eating and cooking and I'm using lots of SW tricks and recipes to help me.
Not expecting a loss by Thursday, but at least I feel back in control.
Welcome to all the newbies and congrats to all the losers:T and stsers:T

Hi 10past6 and welcome:hello:
I can see that ready meals might be more convenient, but maybe not cheaper. I nearly always cook from scratch and you can buy fruit and veg and things like pasta and rice very cheaply and make lovely meals, tailored to your own tastes. You can always cook the meat separately but have the same basic dishes.
Think of the things you like in the ready meals, get the basic ingredients and have a go yourself. If you look back on this thread there are lots of low-fat recipes too. Good luck and don't be shy about asking us basic cooking things. I've been cooking for years but I still have disasters:eek: We are all here to help xxx

When I made the coleslaw I got grated cabbage everwhere:rolleyes: and made a right mess. I might have to invest in a food processor. I haven't got one yet, as my kitchen is so tiny and there's nowhere to put anything.

The other thing i do is put 2 tbsp of houmous in a tub of quark and it makes a whole tub of houmous for the 2 tbsp is 3 syns, i buy the sainsbury roasted red pepper be good to yourself - yum, once yov're syn it its then free for you to go back to as much as you like .
So people have been put off by quark , but don't be , it takes the flavor overnight of what you put in it , mayo , horseraddish , nuttella , ect , peachy x

Am I alone in thinking that Quark and Fromage Frais spoil recipes? The only way I can use Quark is mixed with the Options hot chocolate sachets to make a kind of mousse dessert.
Fromage frais - I can only tolerate with a bit of sweetener in to have with strawberries. I also use it mixed in with those 2 syn jellies half and half.
Any thing I have made cooked which uses the FF or Quark I end up chucking out. Shame really - I do want to like them, just don't!!

Like mayo a tbsp is high in syns and if you like using mayo alot , it eats into your syns:confused: ,or hoummus its high the same thing ,so thats why i use quark , by adding a little bit of what like you get alot back and once syned its free :T

My son gets pizza sometimes (Milanos) and they come with a pot of garlic and herb dip. They weigh 28 grams. Anyone like to hazard a guess how many syns would be in them? I am sure they are quite fattening but if synned I would like to use them (he does'nt like them) as salad dressing and count them of course!
Also Waitrose have bought out some fat free probiotic yogurts. I could not find them on syns online. Do you think these would be free? Activa do a fat free one and they are syn free.
Questions, questions!:)????????????

What you could do is put the whole tub of quark into a tupperware pot and add, say 2 or 3 large heaped tablespoons of mayo (you could even use extra light, I suppose) and taste it. The more quark, the milder it is but still very nice. You can leave overnight, but I often use straightaway. Quark seems to last for ages, so I'd imagine it would last as long as you need it. I use it to spread on salad sandwiches in place of spreads too xxx

Got my weigh in tonight, not sure how I will do, I have been really, really good this week, but feeling very bloated today so who knows.
We will see what we will see, whichever way it goes I am definitely having a couple of glasses of wine with my meal tonight ;)

Ness, you might be surprised, especially if you've been good. Enjoy your wine, luv. As we've said before, this is a lifetime change of eating and you have to have a bit of what you fancy;)
Just back from a nice walk with Ruby. We live near lots of elderly peoples' bungalows and I met a lovely old chap who I'm guessing doesn't get chance to talk to people much, so I stayed and had a good chat with him. Walking Ruby is an excellent way to meet men;):rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hi all!
I have been away since Friday in a caravan in the Cotswolds..... as you can imagine, the food wasn't very SW friendly (chips, chips, chips).... but we did our best, cooked a bit in the caravan, made sensible choices, ate lots of SS fruit, drank loadsa water (shhhh! and beer) and am therefore :D THRILLED:D to report a mere 1/2lb gain.
I think I am quite so happy, coz if I can fend off the (normally huge) holiday weight gains, then I know that we really can do this losing weight malarky!!
When I get this weight off, its going to STAY OFF!!!! :j :j
BIG cheer to all the losers and stayers ..... :T :T

xnessa your find the quark in the cheese section ,its about 54p a pot in tesco , plus the longer you leave it the stonger it gets .
I put mayo and some garlic in it for a dip and the next day it was really strong , so be careful not to put to much garlic in it unless you love garlic like me , but there be no kisses:eek:

It's really helpful, Peachey, as some of us don't have the books -thanks very much:A
When I made the coleslaw I got grated cabbage everwhere:rolleyes: and made a right mess. I might have to invest in a food processor. I haven't got one yet, as my kitchen is so tiny and there's nowhere to put anything.
I make coleslaw all the time and have found the best way is to use a Borner Vee slicer. It stops onion taking on that strange flavour it sometimes does when grated and I can make a huge bowlful in less than 5 mins.
It's worth getting the proper Borner Vee as there are lots of copy ones which aren't half as good.

Also..thought I'd mention that I tried this recipe from the SW website today...it was so yum and was actually a decent portion :)
http://www.slimmingworld.com/lifelineonline/images/features_images/subtitle_10ways_strawberry_cheesecake.gif
Serves: 8
Syns per serving:
5 Syns on Green,
5 Syns on Original
Ingredients:
113g/4 oz ginger nut biscuits
28g/1 oz butter, melted
1 sachet & 2 level teaspoons gelatine
5 tablespoons boiling water
227g/8 oz strawberries
340g/12 oz quark skimmed milk soft cheese
227g/8 oz very low fat natural fromage frais
artificial sweetener, to taste
strawberries, for decoration
Method:
1. Crush the biscuits with a rolling pin and then mix in the melted butter. Press evenly over the base of a 20cm/8in springform tin and pop into the fridge to chill while you make the filling.
2. Dissolve the gelatine in the boiling water, stirring it well, and then leave it until it is cool.
3. Meanwhile, pur!e the strawberries quickly in a food processor or mash roughly – the pur!e should have some texture and not be too liquid.
4. In a bowl, beat together the quark and fromage frais, and fold in the pur!ed strawberries and the cooled gelatine, mixing well. Sweeten to taste with artificial sweetener.
5. Spoon the cheesecake mixture over the chilled biscuit base and chill in the refrigerator until set (about 1 hour). Serve sliced, decorated with strawberries.

Just made a yoghurt dip with garlic and chives to go with lamb pittas tonight, as we ended up having a cooked chicken and salad yesterday (no time for anything else). Hello folks
This is a long shot, but is there anything on the market that shows what my daily INTAKE calories are?
I've no idea what my daily calorie intake should be anyway, and although I burn 1000 calories aday on the treadmill, it's just not moving, I'm wondering if I'm taking in far to many calories.

10past6 - Slimming World has nothing to do with calories - thats not how it works. 1000 calories on a treadmill would equate to about 4 hours useage????
(Intake for women should be 2000 and 2500 for a guy - less than this if you're trying to lose weight but this is irrelevant to this thread)

Hello Skint
OK thx, let me explain to make it easier to understand.
I'm trying to lose weight, as I'm on a DMP, and in the process of an IVA application, I don't have the funds to join SW / WW.
Although I burn 1000 calerories aday, I have no idea what my calorie intake is, I just eat food, mostly ready meals, and processed.

That's fine - I don't have a problem with that - but Slimming World advice on this thread won't help you if you wish to calorie count - its a completely different system. We don't consider calories at all on this plan.
If you google 'calorie counter' you will find something to help you - http://www.thecaloriecounter.com/

Hi 10past6
There are usually a lot of calories in ready meals and not that much substance. If you just cut down your intake, you will be starving all the time. Whatever plan you wish to follow, you are welcome to join us but losing weight on ready meals will be expensive and difficult. I don't think it will help you to find out exactly how many calories you are eating, you maybe just need to think of it as changing to more healthy eating. I'm not doing strictly SW, but use a lot of the recipes and little fat-saving tricks.
I know you are not a fan of cooking, but what about things like jacket potatoes (just wash and bung in th oven). Pasta (just boil in salted water and add a ready-made sauce, like Ragu, if you don't want to make a sauce). You'll find it so much easier if you add lots of veggies to a meal too (I chuck them in with pasta sometimes).
HTH and hope you stay with us xxx

i don't know about those ones but here are some other low syn ice lollies.

Whatever people say slimming world is based on calories - it has to be - as no other way makes sense. Calories taken in equalling more than calories used = weight gain. Our leader explains that slimming world encourages users to eat denser, lower calorie foods that satisfy for longer - hence there should be no need to snack as the food is filling. Snacking outside this is due to psychological and comfort eating.(and I am guilty of it!) That is my opinion anyway!:)

Every diet is based on calories, whether you are aware of them or not. And the beauty of SW is that you don't have to think about them (but still have to count syns). I've done both SW and WW (lost 5 stone on that) and the principle is the same, despite the counting of points on WW. You have to take in less calories than you burn to lose weight. If you eat low-fat and high fibre foods (including natural fibre in fruit and veg) protein and some carbs, such as pasta potatoes and rice, you will feel full and not crave the high-fat stuff too much.
I always have a treat or two though, like a kitkat on a night, otherwise I would crave chocolate (whether i'm full or not:o). It keeps me on the straight and narrow (usually;))

Ooh, thanks, I'm going to get some of the Morrisons mini ice cream things. My OH is only going to be able to eat pureed food after his op for a few days, so I'm going to stock up on low-fat custard, rice pudding and things like that. Must look up Angel Delights, too, as he loves them. If anyone has any ideas, bring em on:D xxx
Hiya everyone.
10past6 i too am on a DMP and have been for 2.5 years now, but i just make sure my SW fee is budgeted for the same as any other bill, i am really pleased with my loss in the last 7 weeks and i will be continuing, and i have found my food bill has dropped, as long as you shop around for the offers and cook most things from scrach the savings are huge, i feed myself my Dh and 4 kids on less than £60 a week and thats for everything.
Skint Cat the kids are in Budgeba? (dont think iv spelt that right) and i spoke to them last night on msn and they said its really hot over there, glad you had a great time.
Tea this evening is quorn spag bog with side salad, and iv made up some savoury rice to have as a cold late night snack. Also i have blized some cottage cheese and added garlic salt for dipping veg sticks into yummy.

If you have any Rosemary, put that on the lamb it is delicious.
when I do a roast lamb I usually put loads of Rosemary and garlic in.
Great I am hungry now !! :p
I'm drooling here but had to go back again to the dentist today as the packing came out of my tooth - it'll be a while before I'll be eating it but the thought of roast lamb and rosemary - yummy. Have never tried it with garlic as well but I will next week (or whenever). Thanks

Well I had a really good week and felt as if the weight was really falling off of me, whereas the week before I felt huge. I'd lost 2lbs at WI last night, making a loss of 1 st 1 lb in 4 weeks, which I'm really pleased about but found it rather odd that over the two weeks I'd lost the same amount of weight and yet felt so different . any theories on this?

I know where you mean - we only drove through it but it is lovely. We were further east on the north cost in Sliema. I was very hot last week too! If they get a chance to visit the blue lagoon on Comino then tell them to go (excellent boat trip and swimming.snorkelling). They are closer than we were.

My husband goes to a different class to me (because of the kids)and he won the raffle this week which was a shopping basket of 4 meals!!
I have cooked the Sweet Potato Curry this lunchtime and it was great and easy too!!
Free on Green
300ml /1/2 pint of stock made from chicken bovril
750g/ 1lb10oz sweet potato peeled and cubed ( bitesize pieces)
1 onion peeled halved and thinly sliced
225g/ 8oz baby spinach leaves
2 garlic cloves
1 red chilli de seeded and thinly diced
1 tbsp of medium curry powder
4 ripe plum tomatoes chopped
salt and pepper
1. fry off onions lightly with fry light in a pan and fry the garlic and chilli for a min to soften slightly.
2. then add stock and potaoes to the pan bring to the boil and cook gently for 5-6 mins.
3 Add curry powder and tomatoes to the saucepan stir well and cook for 10 until sweet potatoes are tender.
4. I wilted the spinach in a small frying pan with frylight and drained off the excess water before adding to the curry.
I did adapt the original recipe slightly by frying off the garlic and chilli first instead of adding it to the stock -I think it would taste better and I didn't want to add more liquid to the curry from the spinach.
See what you think! i had it with boiled rice.

Next week the three biggest losers in our class are going to tell their stories and are allowing us to ask questions.
One lady has become a good friend of mine and she has lost 7 st 7lbs!!
I wanted to do something special for her and we always talk about not being able to imagine that much weight so I am going to buy 19 bags of potatoes (2.5 kgs size) which is the equivalent of her weight loss. I think she is going to be flabagasted. I think it's going to be an inspirational night as I have as much or more to lose and am only 1 1/2 st along. i am hoping to get my club 10 too on the night. I need to lose a pound but have had quite a few syns so will need to pull back in the next 3 days!

Hi all,
I hope you are enjoying the weather! :D:D:D
I love the sound of the sweet potato curry. I'm not keen on spinach when it is cooked but I could substitute some spring greens I've got. Might make it tomorrow as am on red day today.
Just in case it is of help to anyone my menu is...
Breakfast...2 slices wholemeal bread (HEB) toasted with marmite and Laughing cow (HEA) plus 2 Alpen light bars (HEB)
Lunch...Grilled lamb steaks with salad and cottage cheese followed by banana
Tea...Roast chicken with more salad and fruit for pud
Would normally not have salad twice in one day but it's so warm and sunny I don't feel like hot veg :D.
Have a good day all.

I also like Cornetto (the strawberry ones).......haven't had one for years......might go and frighten myself with how many syns they are and why I won't be having one in the near future!
Edit: 10........not as bad as I thought and much nicer than those yucky processed WW desserts at 8 each - peh, peh ( me making sticking tongue out noises at the toffee one!)

Years ago we were told if you think you've only lost whatever, take a basket next time you are in a supermarket and go to the sugar display. Each bag is roughly 2lb. On that ratio put the weight you have lost into the basket and try carrying it up or down the aisle before putting it back. That's what you carried everywhere before you lost the weight. Some couldn't even lift it off the floor and were chuffed to bits.
Hope the idea may help someone.

Whats the new card/laptop system???
Each member has there own SW card. When signing in/paying you put it in a card reader which is hooked up to a laptop, you pay and then move on to get weighed. The person doing the weighing also has a laptop & you put your card in another reader. I think its all hooked up to the scales so records your weight automatically. Your weight is still recorded in your book :)
Our card/laptop system starts in June, my consultant and the weigh in helpers all have to go for a training course, she told us about it a few weeks ago, and told us we will have to give as much notice of missed weeks as possible as it isnt as flexible for the consultant to change if you give a last minute `can attend` call.
Well i have to be super good today as its WI tommorow after only 4 days since last WI.

Well done TractorGirl, you're putting me to shame. I've lost 12 1/2 lbs, but its taken me about 12 weeks. My fault, I keep cheating :D
When I get back off holiday, I'm going to really knuckle down and stick to it rigidly.
The good news is that before coming away, I went to get a pair of jeans and have dropped a dress size. In fact, I can actually get into two sizes smaller, but they were a bit tight :j
My confession so far today is a bacon sandwich for breakfast, on white bread  Also, a ham ploughmans for lunch with mayonnaise and butter on my bread roll :rotfl:

Just looked it up - 18.5 Syns!!! Guess what hubby will be having tonight!!!!!

Can I come back? I confess to going off to try something else, but it stalled me completely. Still 11st 10/11-ish, have kept off the 5lb I lost initially on SW, but haven't lost anything more :-(
Serves me right for deserting, really, doesn't it?
Got a fabby new job I love, which involves walking to and from town five days a week, so I'm getting lots of sunshine and exercise, though it means I now can't get to the gym during the day, but at least it means I'm doing SOME exercise every day, instead of just "if I can be bothered to go to the gym"

Hi all,
Well done to all you losers and stsers!:T
I am on a green day today and had....
Breakfast...Quorn sausages and mushrooms in toasted sandwich (bread HEB)
Lunch..Potato Salad made with new potatoes in skins, Cottage cheese, peas and beansprouts (have just started sprouting my own again so having them in everything :o)
Tea...Quorn sausages, egg and sin free chips covered with chilli and curry powder (yum yum)
Plus apples and bananas throughout the day and 2 Alpen light bars (HEB)
Milk as always for cups of tea (HEA)
Bye for now and keen it up! :D:D:D
Today I had a banana and yoghurt for breakfast and a cottage cheese salad for lunch with LOADS of home made coleslaw, followed by another yoghurt. My afternoon snack was a banana. This took the pressure off and left me with a wide range of food for my evening meal. I had 70 gms of cold roast chicken, a very large jacket potato and more of my yummy coleslaw, followed by another yoghurt.
For supper I will have Ryvitas and laughing cow cheese spread - and my 250 ml bottle of wine.
I am more likely to pick in the evening so I save my sins for then.

Hi all, i have been following this thread now for a couple of weeks. I have been a member of slimming world since the middle of january but have only managed to lose 8.5lbs! This i think is partly due to my hobbies as my name suggests...synning! (mainly on alcohol!). Anyway if it is ok i would like to get involved in this thread as you all seem to give really good support!
Oh i tried the sweet potato and spinach curry (cant remember who did the recipe sorry!) and it was absolutely fab! Thanks so much! :T

Mornin all:hello:
Well another weekend with planned meals out (and copious alcohol) and I had a lovely time, but back on track now. I zapped some cottage cheese with chives and added a bit of garlic and had it as a dip with carrot and cucumber sticks yesterday - very refreshing and filling.
I bought a pair of stretch jeans a few weeks ago that were a bit too tight and put them away for when I'd lost a bit. Got them out to wear at the weekend and they were baggy in all the wrong places :o Didn't know whether to be happy or not, as they are only fit to wear under dresses now:rotfl::rotfl:
Well done for some fantastic losses:T, and welcome studentsynner:j, we like our booze on here, so you will be among friends:D
see you all later xxx

Hi All
I've not really been on for a while, as my damned laptop has died. I am now back to sharing PC with dh.
I have been trying to stick to it, but with out coming on here my motivation has waned a bit, so now I am back with a vengence. Well when I can get on the PC!!!!
The last two weeks I lost 0.5lb then 0.25lb, so not very impressive i'm afraid.
I had a bbq yesterday, but didn't really eat much else as I was so busy, so hopefully it will have balanced itself out. Today I am on a red, I have had scrambled egg and ham for brekkie, will have chiken salad for lunch and not sure yet what to do for dinner.
Although I alway seem to feel hungrier on red than on green days. Does anyone have any tips??

Hi madsmum and welcome:D
Your menu looks ok. Am I reading it right that you had 14.5 syns?
I think you are just going wrong with the houmous which would need synning. You can have some as a healthy extra B choice but you had used them for bread and weetabix.
Hope that helps.

Does anyone knowwhat the lowest syn wrap is, i bought some healthy living ones but iv checked and they are 9 syns each!!! And i love wraps as a quick meal and so do the kids and dh, but im not wasting 9 syns on a wrap especially when i normally have 2!!!!!

Hi,
I am going to join slimming world I think, but had a couple of questions which I wondered whether you lovely slimmers could answer please?
1) I am veggie - will I survive?
2) I did weightwatchers about 7 years ago and lost weight - that was point counting though - is this similar - I haven't quite understood it yet?
3) I only want to lose half a stone for my hols - will that be OK?
4)Do you have to pay if you miss a week etc? What are the costs please?
I have had a quick look at the site and noticed half price registration and 6 for 5 offer or something?
Many thanks for reading!

I know that pitta isn't allowed as an heb (about 3.5 syns?) and I very much doubt the ciabbata as it is made with quite a bit of oil ....
sorry :(

Hi Woohoo
firstly to join an actual group you have to want to lose 7lbs or more so if you have 1/2 stone then you should be fine.
being vegetarian in fine on SW as you can do Green Days (Red Days are the meat days)
you do have to pay for missed weeks but you get 6 days per year for holidays and sickness that you can use, so if you need to miss a week call the consultant and book it off so you don't have to pay (weekely cost is £4.50)
and lastly there is no point counting, you basically get to eat loads and loads of Free food i.e. on a green day you could eat a huge jacket potato (or 2) with a huge pile of beans and on a red day you can eat loads of meat
also if you like quorn that is free on both days
hope this helps? and good luck with the weight loss:p

I am presuming you have had a Green day.
2 Weetabix is a healthy extra B choice (HEB)
500mls of s/s is 2 healthy extra A choices - possibly enough for the weetabix, rice pud & drinks through the day)
57gms wholemeal bread is a HEB
Ham is 2 syns per 28gms
Spread is 3 syns per level tablespoon
Mayo is 2½syns per level tablespoon (reduced fat type)
Quorn burger syn-free
Hummus (low syn but syn-free recipe below if you like it)
Rice pud could be syn-free if you're on a Green day, use milk from HEA and artificial sweetener such as Splenda (recipe below)
Semi-skimmed milk (extra to HEAs) is roughly 6 syns per 250mls.
Hummus/Houmous (Syn free on Green)
Canned Chick Peas
Lemon Juice to taste
Garlic to taste
Black Pepper
Very Low Fat Fromage Frais
Put the drained chickpeas into a food processor with the garlic (chopped), pepper and some lemon juice, process this until it has broken down into a paste.
Add a couple of spoonfuls of fromage frais and mix in, add more fromage frais until the hummus is the right consistency.
RICE PUDDING (syn free on Green)
4oz pudding rice
1½ pints skimmed milk (from HEAs)
7 or 8 tablespoons of Splenda
Pinch nutmeg or cinnamon
Put everything in a slow cooker and stir.
Cook on low all day or on High for about 4/5 hours.
Hope this helps :)
hi everyone
I hope u can help, I went to class and lost 2.5 lbs today - so thats 6.5 in 2 weeks (i hope it continues!)
Anyway last week the consultant mentioned the banana/choc mousse thats in the dessert book. I never thought much of it, but this week everyone was raving about it - but the consultant had no books left and no-one could remember the exact ingredients??
If anybody has it could you tell me it please. I recall there was some egg whites and fromage frais and vanillas essence but nothing else?
The consultant said she might have some for next week. Would i be able to attend another meeting somewhere else this week to see if a different consultant had it? Or is this not allowed? Not sure of all the rules.
Am waiting patiently (she says drumming her fingers!!)
Thanks in advance

Hi everyone,
haven't been on for a while - £D life keeps getting in the way and I've had a few ups and downs recently. Bad news on the slimming front is that I've put on 2 llbs which means I'm effectively back where I started. I know why - too many sins and not following the plan properly!
So back on the wagon.
I tried two new recipes, egg florentine for breakfast (from one of the recent mags) and a mustard seed and spinach sauce on fish from the saucy secrets book. Both were nice enough but very fiddly when you're only cooking for one.
I think I shall have to keep it simple during the week when I'm on my own.
Good weight losses for others though - Well Done,

Well done Tractor girl!!!! you are doing so fabulously. Love new Jeans, I bet you look fab.
Have you got any tips for loosing so much so quickly (your such a skinny)
They asked me at class what my secret was, and I don't really know!!! But this is what I said:
(1) I just make sure I write absolutely everything down, (my Consultant only gave me 4 Food Diary sheets and looked at me as if I was mad when I asked her for more so I just did my own on MS Excel!!). I keep my Food Diary near me all the time, I take it out if I go out, so I always know where I stand!
(2) I've gone through all the jars, packets, tins etc in my fridge & freezer, looked up or worked out their Syn value and written it on the packaging with marker pen. So, when I want something I can see at a glance which is the best to have :D . I have found this especially useful!
(2) I eat a lot of salad, and instead of using up Syns on salad creams and salad dressings, I just use good old fashioned vinegar - it is lovely!!
(3) I usually get peckish between 5pm and 6pm (used to be the time the biscuits, or cake, or cheese came out :o ) so I now have either 3 x Ryvita (HEB) with my Laughing Cow cheese (HEA), or a bowl of fresh berries (usually strawberries, raspberries or blueberries - or all 3 :o ) with a Vanilla Muller light, and that sees off the hunger pangs until hubby gets home between 7 and 8 and we heat then!
ETA: Oh, and of course, Peachey's great tip - DIET TONIC WATER!!! It is a lovely drink, and I've also got Asda's Diet Bitter Cranberry which I mix 50:50 with the tonic as I find it too sweet on its own - and it's FREE!!!!!! I used to drink a lot of wine, and to tell the truth when I had a glass at my Virgin Vie party 2 weeks ago I didn't really enjoy iy and just thought 'What a waste of 6 Syns' so I've not had any since!!!

Sometimes things turn up and we can't help blowing it ( go flexi) if you can mate , but were all human and its a way of living ,eating food thats low in fat , so we must all stop beating ourselfs up over going out and having a life mate :T :T :T .
Welldone you for getting back on track and hitting the superfoods and hitting the water :A .
Well that was me on friday night ,went to a charity do for the local hospital, started out on vodka &coke , went on to pints cider& one glass of wine  .
Saturday a bit down , hit a bottle of red wine   :wall: .
Sunday went out for dinner in country pub , sitting in garden two large glasses of wine, then if that wasn't anoth ,stopped of and borte a bottle of white wine and soda water and had that :wall: :wall: :wall:    .
So ive done the same hit the water big time , i'm feeling really bloated at moment , so will have to see what happens .
Out again saturday to nandos , with a work mate who's on her own and moved up to be near family from london, who don't see her much , course she works full time on nights , really worried about her , so hope this will pick her up :T , peachy x
Exactly what I think Peachey. You have to be able to do normal life things like this, but the trick is to stay in control and know you can go back to the plan straightaway. I think if you deny yourself completely you are more likely to put it all back on again at a later stage (done that before:o)
And as for you, Peachey mate, you are at target:T and can afford to indulge a bit anyway. I hope your friend is cheered up a bit and lucky she has someone caring like you around:A:A:A xxx

does anyone know why lemon and lime juice is free when all other fruits have to be synned if juiced.
also is grated orange zest free?
As far as I'm aware the only difference is that you're lilkely to drink a glass full of orange juice, pineapple juice, strawberry juice or any other sweet fruit juice, but highly unlikely to have more than a few mls of lime or lemon juice and probably then only if mixed with water or soda.
Grated zest would be syn-free.
Morning all.
Well iv done my bit of excerise for today walked into town and back again, have started using ds weights to tone my upper arms abit too.
Had a good day yesterday and created a new favorite.
Get a frozen quorn filet spread with quark and sprinkle some garlic salt and mixed herbs onto quark then wrap 1 strip of lean bacon around and cook as you would normally in the oven for about 30 mins. It was yummy, had it with tinned new pots, sweetcorn and some pasta n sauce, i used the bacon as a HOB and everything else was free, it was very filling.
Planning to do something simalar at my mother in laws bbq in a few weeks, chicken drumsticks with skin removed garlic quark and wrap with bacon, free on a red day!!
Well done everyone lets keep going!!

There's no reason at all you can't go to a different class, in fact, it's encouraged so that if you were away from your home area for any reason, you will still be able to attend a group somewhere else.
You can go on the website, type in your postcode and find the nearest few groups to where you want to go. Don't forget to take your food optimising book and get them to write the weight in so that your own Consultant can see you haven't missed a week.
Alternatively, if you find you can't get a book locally, you can always send for it direct from SW.

Can anyone tell me what is sucess express? read about it on p169. Have I missed something?
Success Express is a plan which works in a different way to the Red and Green ones. The SW guidelines are reproduced here:-
SUCCESS EXPRESS
Step 1:
Have Three Success Express Meals a Day. At each meal follow the two to one principle.
Fill two thirds of your plate with Superfreefoods then one third of the plate with foods that are Free on Green or Original.
Step 2:
Add one or two Healthy Extra ‘A’ Choices and two ‘B’ choices from either the Green or Original lists.
Step 3:
Snack on Superfree Foods such as fresh or frozen fruit, vegetables, eggs or very low fat dairy products. You can add Healthy Extras to Snacks.
Step 4:
Choose your Syns; enjoy five to 15 Syns per day. You can enjoy your Syns as part of a meal or for treats.
Snacks, desserts or starters that are not Superfree or Healthy Extras are counted as Syns.
SERVING SENSE
To get the maximum benefits from Success Express. It is best to follow the easy guidelines that put a little structure and control into your serving sizes.
If you find yourself building “towers” of food that’s mainly free on Green or Original, it might be better to go for that choice rather than busting the “true” Two to one Principle.
On a Success ExpressDay,
Everything you eat that isn’t a Free Food (following the two to one principle), a Superfree Food or a Healthy Extra has Syns. If a Syn has a higher Syn value on one choice than the other then you must take the higher value.

Actually it is my biggest loss so far. I am feeling it is all going v e r y slowly, but heck, at least it is going! and I'm not feeling deprived of anything.
Planning is why I was sucessful this week - we went to an agricultural show at the weekend, and would normally have a large burger and chips from a van, and an ice cream with a danish pastry (they are huge!!!) at the end.... instead, I made a picnic full of yummy treaty things, we sat on the grass, *really* enjoyed it, and because we had been so good, we allowed ourselves an ice cream later!! hurrah!:T :T

I have shared on here that I am struggling to lose the last few pounds. My leader says I can call target and then lose another 3lbs but part of me feels I am giving up and giving in.
Anyway, I have been extra good of late but I am wondering if I eat too many yoghurts?? I know Mullers are free of syns, but I had one for breakfast with fruit, one for lunch (after my porridge - yes I have breakfast for lunch as I have so little time to eat due to work).
Tonight I am having salmon with steamed spinach and brussel sprouts followed by a muller light. So could this be stopping me lose weight?? consultant 31 what do you think??
I have cut out my a choice in the hope this will kick start my weight loss again.

larmy it wouldn't stop you losing weight but your body gets used to things you have so it wouldn't hurt to substitute the yoghurt with something different to give your body a surprise.

Omlettes / frittatas are my lunchtime standard.....
On a red day I add bacon, mushrooms, cheese (he a or b) and serve with salad.
On a green day I often make it into a spanish omlette - potatoes (microvaved first then sliced) cooked with onions, peas, cheese on top (he) if wanted... serve with salad or baked beans (or syn free chips if extra hungry and you have half an hour)
Or rather nice for either day is courgette, onion, mint and feta cheese (he)

don't give in - you can do it. Have you tried increasing your fibre? It may come off so slowly you won't realise but it'll go when it's ready. If I had only 3 lbs or even 3 stone to lose I'd be so chuffed. You've done brilliantly.

... bother!!...
not really the time of year, but soups are good too - especially as when you make several portions, the rest goes in the freezer, and will take about 5 mins to cook from frozen in a pan or microwave.
how about a stir fry? they are really fast (and very tasty) - especially if you use a bag of stir fry from the supermarket, adding mushrooms, or prawns, or soy sauce etc etc....
