View Full Version : i broke my tooth a few years back with a M&S
packet of cereal. it cracked it that i had to have a crown put in - after writing several letters that agreed to pay for it (i had the proof of the cereal and the stone that was in it!).
anyway i am now having problems again with the tooth . i wrote to them a couple of years telling them i may need to have extra work but they did not seem very interested and said they would pay for nothing.
any feedback would be appreciated as not sure what to do next when it was no fault of my own and it is the only tooth in my mouth (my teeth are quite good otherwise) which needed this type of work!

I would think that when they agreed to pay, they had a clause in their letter somewhere, offering a 'full and final payment'.....or.....a payment as 'gesture of goodwill'
I think you did well to get anything, but maybe somewhere like the CAB could advise you further, or is your dentist willing to state that the current problems are as a direct result of the stone.
No dentist would give you a 'lifetime' guarantee for work done.
should not be final paymetn and i dont think i signed anythign to that effect ever so will put this in letter to them if necessary. i have perfect teeth apart from the one they have destroyed for me!!! and the pain it causes me at moment from time to time!!! not had the money to deal with it.I would think that when they agreed to pay, they had a clause in their letter somewhere, offering a 'full and final payment'.....or.....a payment as 'gesture of goodwill'

As above I think you were very lucky to get what you did out of M&S. I honestly don't think you will have an onoing case for life against them.

i have heard of solicitors putting on paperwork ...and "ongoing treatment". i was young back then so would not have known how to deal with these things. As above I think you were very lucky to get what you did out of M&S. I honestly don't think you will have an onoing case for life against them.
