I've already posted asking about experiences of steroid epidural jabs as i have been told this is the expected treatment for my back problem (i'm only 28 and have suffered from back trouble from the age of 14).

I have an appointment with the pain clinic (sounds bad already) on friday morning but was wondering what treatment other people have had for the same problem.

Thanks, Kelly

i went to the pain clinic they basically suggest ways to move, pick things up, exercises etc... frankly i found it useless but there u go u might find it helpful

i had epidural injections for years but unfortunately they stopped working for me as my discs degenerated further to the point i couldnt walk last year... a friend suggested a chiropractor so i went along there and they did acupuncture on my back as well as chiropracty and within a week i was walking again

the other thing i find useful is to exercise (yes i know that sounds weird cos it hurts like hell at first but if u persevere (and i dont mean do it if its agony) it builds strength into yr spine and core and that helps support yr damaged discs.. i find now if i go without exercising for 3 or 4 days i get really stiff and my back hurts much worse

I have had back problems from injury as well as other severe pain issues and Bowen Technique worked for me, you may want to find out more about Bowen -

see back pain section.

Thanks for your replies, i went to the pain clinic and was given the choice again of an epidural steroid or i was offered acupuncture. I have decided to try this as its less intrusive. I've about a 3 month wait but thats bearable, I have some fab pain killers and muscle relaxants to keep me happy in the meantime!!:p

I have been having alternative therapy known as bioresonance therapy and find it has worked wonders. It's non intrusive and I wish they would put this on the NHS as it would help so many people with everyday health problems. Of course I have had to pay privately but here's the website:-

www.bioenergy-rochdale.co.uk (http://www.bioenergy-rochdale.co.uk)

check to see if there is a practitioner in your area by googling bioresonance/ bio-energy.

All the best

good luck with the acupuncture wish i had been offered iton NHS i had to pay but it was well worth it

the epidurals did work for many years so u always have that as a back up, it is intrusive but the relief from pain (for me) was a godsend
