Hi,

I have only been living in the UK for 6 months, so I am not yet fully aware of how everything works here regarding motoring Issues.

I am currently in the process of buying a used car for my wife. Unfortunately the car is located quite a distance away. How can I legally get the car from the point of purchase to my home? I cannot transfer my Insurance, as we will use that car to drive up there.

Is it possible to buy temporary insurance, i.e. for a day or two?

Cheers,
DSAB

Hi

There are companies that can help e.g. http://www.insuredaily.co.uk/.

I googled for temporary car insurance.

Give you insurance company a ring to temprarliy add a vehicle to your policy. We used to do this for policyholders for the exact same reason as what you need it for.

If you're buying it as an additional car it's going to need to be insured anyway so why not just get a proper policy on it?
