Hope someone can help with this! Due to Hubby's Espace failing it's MOT in spectacular style (2 page failure sheet! Eeek!), we bought a Citroen Saxo at auction yesterday. P reg 1.0l petrol. On the way home (14 miles from the auction) he says it was difficult to get any revs out of it and had to fight to get it home. At one point he broke down at a crossroads on a slight uphill bank because it died, and I had to push him out of the way of traffic! (He's disabled). Two minutes later and it started again fine.
Anyway, my thoughts were to change the plugs and HT leads to see if that makes any difference. It was very low on petrol when we bought it, so I'm also wondering if it's dragged some crap through from the fuel tank.
Is there anything else obvious I should be looking at?

How about a Nissan Micra??!
I've never been a fan of French cars.
It sounds as if it could be a fuelling problem, either too much and flooding the system or not enough, faulty pump?
Good luck with it.

Sadly, a lot of older cars are in an auction for a very good reason, they have inherant faults, it sounds like you may have bought one.
Sorry I know that doesn't help your plight.
It could well be the fact that it was low on fuel and it has sucked up some crud.

Unfortunately, neither am I, but it was the best of the bunch really as it's MOT'd until December 2008. We did look at a little Micra, but it only had MOT until March and was accident damaged, which put us off.
I'll be off to the car parts place in a bit to get supplies, so I'll let you know how it goes! (Or not, as the case may be!)
Thanks for your replies.
