Ok I recently had a new part fitted on my car through the AA, the AA man wrote down the card number but must have made a mistake with one digit. I have now received a letter stating I must pay for it, where does this leave me? If its their (the AA) mistake do I have to pay? I realise that I should, and I will if it comes to it, after all they put the part on, but if a company makes a mistake, should they have to count their losses?
please shed some consumer light on this.
thanks

You had a part fitted to your car, but when you gave them your debit/credit card number, they made a mistake noting down its details and were unable to take their owed payment.
They are now asking for your details again (in order to take payment), or sending you a bill... and you are asking if you still owe the money?
Am I understanding you correctly?
Yes. You still owe the money for services that have been delivered. The fact they were unable to take it on their first attempt is irrelevant.
Pay it.

What a !!!! you are.
Turn the table... you're a builder and do some work for someone, they pay you by card and you note the card no. down wrong.... do you let them off the bill?
No, I didn't think so:rolleyes:

I was trying to read into this by seeing if some sort of extra fine had been applied, but it doesn't look like it has. If you don't give the details chances are you'll end up in court and pay the AA's costs as well, and have problems with credit checks etc. If you didn't want to pay you shouldn't have had the work done.

I get a horrible feeling that someone might point out a connection between this and filing a claim for 'whiplash'.
Oh! It was me.

I have to agree, calling david names isn't really a nice thing to do, even if he did name himself after a numptie ;)
