I have savings in an icici account. I'm planning to emmigrate to australia in Jan 09 and would like to know if I can open a savings account over there prior to my move. The interest rates over there are currently higher than in UK so if I can move the money then it would be more beneficial.
Hoping someone out there may have some ideas!
Thanks, Helen

Hi Helen,

We emmigrated to Oz in 2003 stayed for a year then returned to the uk (long story).
If you have a look at this website www.britishexpats.com (http://www.britishexpats.com) and go to the forum section, they will be able to answer any questions that you have, we found this site very helpful before we went.

Why did you come back Sue? The UK is cold and wet, OZ is warm and dry?

Hi,

We had a few bad events while we were living in Oz my husband and youngest son nearly drowned and our eldest son was in a bad car crash, it was really hard with no 'real' friends or family around us at that time.

If you want the full story go to www.britishexpats.com (http://www.britishexpats.com) then forums and do a search for sue5665.

We have still got our resident visa's so maybe one day we will return.

Sue
