What's it about?

Whether you're a fan of Man U (edit by Martin... BOOOH) or Man City (edit by Martin.... HOORAY!) if you regularly travel to watch your team play football then there's a nifty little site that puts you in touch with other fans to car share and sometimes even provides free coach travel to some matches.

What do I need to to?

Simply register at Carbonfootyprint.com (http://www.carbonfootyprint.com) and you'll be able to get in touch with other fans of your team.

Brillant

Travel with complete strangers you've never met in their car which may not be insured or legal etc

Pure genius plan:rolleyes:

People do it on club messageboards etc all the time, all this does is help them link up.

Shame it doesnt help with non-leage fans though - there's only several hundred thousand of us after all...

I wouldnt suggest females to get in a car filled with a huge number of football lads.

I wouldn't suggest males to get in a car filled with a huge number of football girls! ;)

There is always one nowadays who tries to be a smartarse. Someone was saying on the board a few days ago that people are to quick to critisize people who are trying to save you money. Why will they not just shut up!!

There are various car sharing websites where people register their journeys, but this is the first one I've seen for sharing to go to football matches - brilliant idea!

I'm a female and already registered with liftshare.com, and found a match with someone (a bloke) who does the same journey to work as me, and we now share a car most days. You just need to have a small grain of common sense and arrange maybe to go with a spouse / partner / friend or whatever until you get to know the person etc., and if you don't feel comfortable, don't do it.

For somone like me who travels a 210 mile round trip to every home game, having moved away from my local team, then I can't wait to start sharing some of the costs. It's a great money saving idea!

Don't knock til you've tried it! :p

It seems to be set up for FA Cup matches only, at the moment, however, or is that just me? Might have something to do with the sponsorship by Eon? Perhaps I'll just have to register my own "events" & try that.

Just find a decent fans forum/message board for your team, most will probably already have some members lift sharing ;)

Yes, but a lot of them live locally and travel to away games. I've moved away and travel a 200 mile round trip to home games!
