Hi, My first ever thread! I just wanted to let you know about Astral face Cream - its better in my opinion than all the fancy expsnive face creams out there and you can get it at a fraction of the cost. It's usually 99p for a small tub and £3.99 for a large tub. It's so cheap you can afford to use it all over your body and not just on your face. It comes in a dark blue tub with write writing. It's been around for years and I heard about it in a magazine, it was referred to as a well kept celebrity secret..! As a face and body cream, I love it, no more dry skin, ever! And I wanted to share it with users of the moneysavingexpert.com because this is such a brilliant site. Thank you Martin.

this is a good cream as long as you use it, how many of us have pots of expensive stuff either brought or given that we use a couple of times and then forget it,bit like exercise equipment only works if you use it...

My friend is a theatre nurse, and she always has a nice calming chat with patients just before they are "put under", and she tells me that every elderly lady who has great skin that she speaks to, always says its down to Astral cream..!!!
Not a very scientific survey I know, but it certainly does come highly recommended..!!

I've just started using it as a face cream after having it recommended and it's great. I'm just using it on the face and a little goes a VERY long way! I only put the merest dab on my finger and it does my whole face and absorbs really easily - also I am prone to spots around the china rea and these have really cleared up since I've been using it.
I wasn't sure at first as it felt a bit gunky, but now I think everyone should use it!!

I agree, it is too easy to be swayed by the flash 'promise the world' ads. Astral is good and I would like to recommend another. After trying the Free Eucerin samples lately I found that the Gen purpose 5% urea cream makes the best ever nightcream. Just bought some and after 1 week I wake up with less wrinkles than I have for years. It's not the cheapest but it works! Good for stubborn dry patches anywhere and elbows/knees, also. :j

Yes I have heard about this and tried it after reading an interview with Joanna Lumley who looks great for her age and she has used it everyday for years. I did try it myself but found it quite thick and greasy (i.e. it took ages to soak in) so did not use it again. However, that is my opinion and I think the same of Nivea Creme which is a similar product.
A great find though for those that it does suit.

Not sure is astral cream has lanolin in it but i use Aqueous cream i don't think it contains lanolin but worth looking into. It is cheap and works really well.

Yep it definately contains lanolin, I too am 'gifted' with very reactive skin and it was like someone had thrown acid in my face when I tried Astral. I looked like the singing detective!
Saying that my MIL has used it all her adult life and has great skin

Some of the beauty magazines have been raving about the anti aging cream sold by Aldi at under £3 a pot.
There is a thread on it here somewhere and others have been impressed by a similar cream sold by Lidl.
For anyone that has an Aldi or Lidl wihin traveling distance it could be worth a try.
