Hi Everyone
Does anyone know of any places that have any discount vouchers on MOTs at the moment? I know that Lex Autocentre have some on their website for 10% off - but I have seen in the past places that have half price MOTs etc - as usual never seem to find them when you really need them....
Thanks in advance.

You're aware that you can get MOTs from Nationwide with Tesco points at 1/4 price, yes?

Hi jjames
Is that Nationwide Autocentre you are referring to?
I looked on their website and it says £5 off for Tesco Clubcard Holders.
They also have a seperate voucher for 10% of an MOT.
How much are MOT's these days anyway?

So how many points do I need for an MOT at 1/4 price?
Thanks for your help

I'm not sure. An MOT is typically around £30-40 depending on the garage. Nationwide allow payment for services and MOTs using Clubcard vouchers at the standard "special offer" 1 point=4p rate.

So approximately 1000 Tesco points should buy you an MOT.

All done = MOT passed - phew.....
Got £5 off teh standard cost with my Tesco clubcard - but will remember to save vouchers next year so that I get the increased discount by paying with vouchers as you mention.
Cheers

This is madness, you're just paying for your "discount" ten times over with unneccessary repairs, get it done by the council!

I didn't have any unnecessary repairs -as the car passed the MOT
However I had no idea that you could get it checked by the local council. I have now just seen the sticky at the top of the forum.
Thanks for that. Will look into that in future as well.

The council thing can work both ways. Get an officious council tester, and he'll mark any halfway-marginal parts down as fail.

Best option really is to get your car serviced at a garage you know you can trust. We're fortunate because I know a very good mechanic nearby, he's a friend of the family and we do each other favours; I sort out his computer systems and he gives me free or cut-price servicing and any repairs (not many since my cars never seem to go wrong).

You could get an officious tester anywhere, the difference is that the council don't make money by failing the car.

Book an MOT online with Kwick Fit and get it for only £25

Hope it helps
