As the title sugests,

currently drive swb transit (god bless her) but need to buy a new van and i have no idea whats good at the mo.

Budget will be around £9-£10k

I have driven the movano when i moved house recently and was impressed by it but not sure what else is on the market.

Must be transit-ish size and not new for obvious instant loss of cash as soon as i drive it off the blooming forecourt.

There are currently VERY good deals in this market, from EVERY make!!

You'll probably be aware of the countless problems Ford are having with new shape Transit, once they've a few miles on them.Maybe 05 models will be much improved.

The Vauxhall/Renault collaboration is proving good for both brands - fuel economy is their BIG selling point' hence the radio & billboard ads.

VW are offering advertised BIG discounts on Transporter - that wouldn't happen a few yers back & they DO still hold value well.

You might even look in at LDV - if you want cheap n cheerfull!

The best thing to do, is talk to ALL the dealers around you & ask for extended test drives - & I mean EXTENDED!! Get the vans for a week or so, then you'll get to know it & won't part with the £$£$£ on something that doesn't suit.

As long as they know you're genuinly looking to change, they'll be keen to let you do this. So don't go into the dealer, just as a tyre kicker - REALLY let the salesman know you're in the market!!

I don't know if it's of any interest to you john0612, being much below your budget, but we recently bought a Renault Master CDi90 semi high-roof 2.2TD van, just under three years old, 54000m, plywood lined and very clean for £5700 +VAT from a local van dealer; mind you, this was trade, no warranty.
In my experience, Transits, while OK in many ways, were prone to rusting in the area of the rear spring shackles-I don't know about the new models.
Best of luck with your purchase.
