Hi Guys
Looking for help please. Bought a W reg Corsa last Oct. Only 18000 miles on clock and full service. Broke my arm in Dec and so car stood for best part of 3 months and now only drive it weekends usually, but its developed an intermittent but loud squeak/squeal which seems to be coming from wheels or underneath car. It due an MOT next week and worried this is going to be something big. Know nowt about cars at all. Any advice or possible diagnosis please??

Somw thoughts =

Brakes 'sticking' , possibly judder on the front wheels, through the steering??

Handbrake sticking on, just a bit?

Alternator belt - have the bonnet up, listen when engine revved lightly. See if the belt is loose buy pushing it between the pulleys, when engine off & not too hot, of course.

Water pump - this will be a sqeel noise from around the side of the engine, when you rev as above,

Alternator - similar squeeling noise.

Other than brakes, NOT MoT failure, but need sorting.! The loose belt, easiest, as if you leave it, you'll end up with flat battery, possibly.

The alternator or water pump are garage jobs.

If it only makes the noise when moving I'd reckon its probably sticking brakes - especially when the car was sitting presumably with the handbrake on for an extended period.
