I've had a peugeot 307 for 6 months now. The warranty runs out in a months time and their offering me an extended warranty for £199 for the year. I wouldn't normally bother but since i've had the car the
-door handles have broken.
-glove box lock stopped working.
-indicators stopped working.
-stereo ate CD's.
-stereo stopped working.
-stabilisers stopped working.
-dampers had to be replaced.
-brakes needed replacing.
-back of seat fell off!!

Maybe I should just sell it and buy a better car!?!

The 307 isn't the most reliable car; if you like it, I would definitely say yes, get an extended warranty.

£200 a year is a fairly typical price for a newish (<5 years old or so) car and for peace of mind I say it's a small price to pay for peace of mind. A quick 6-month stooze on a CC is probably enough to pay for it in any case.

If you sell the car you're throwing money away, better to get your money's worth out of the Peugeot before you sell (for me that means keeping the car for 3 years or more).

Thanks for the help. I'll take out the warranty.

dont take the warranty without first reading everything that is covered, all the things you have claimed for so far, are not usually covered by extended warranties

the best thing to do is be very nice to your local dealer, as that way they tend to bend over backwards to help you, should something go wrong with the car, within a year (or more) of the original warranty ending

not worth buying anything additional - they arent worth the paper they are written on

Agreed, read the small print on what is covered in the warranty. £200 is worth paying for peace of mind since you had quite a few problems with it.

Not having a dig at you, I dont see anything nice about the looks of the 307. Japanese and German cars are most reliable.

> Japanese and German cars are most reliable.

Very true :) That goes for Japanese- and German-derived cars as well. So Seat, Skoda and the Korean firms are also very strong on reliability.

I can see why some people like French cars, but I wouldn't have one personally.
