I walked some gum into the car and I can't find a way of removing it from the carpet - which is black. In another forum ice was suggested - (hasn't worked) and also nail varnish remover - which I haven't tried as it's highly infamible and I'd rather only use as a last resort.
Anyone know what to do - otherwise tomorrow I'll ring a gum company - they must know how to remove their product - mustn't they?
There are a few tips HERE (http://www.tipking.com/tip/4451.html) for removing chewing gum.
Surprise surprise , one involves vinegar :D

Erm...I see you've already asked this question on the Old Style board and had some answers  Didn't any of those work?

none worked so far!
Have you tried rubbing "oil of orange " into gum as it seems to dissolve stuff very well?

No - and I'm not sure what 'oil of orange' is?
I bought it at a specialist ironmongers in York but you could ask at your local shop.

I got some off my carpet by putting an ice pack on it till it went hard...then chipped it off with the blunt end of a knife. This works with clothes too....put them in the freezer for a while , then chip it off.

Have you tried a steam cleaner?

We were freaking last year when we vacated a rented property. We found tar had been trapsed across the entrance hall, kitchen and up the stairs. We got it off the laminate flooring using those Flash Eraser sponges.
For the carpeted stairs we used WD40 and it didn't leave any stains:j ! We were even praised for the immaculate condition we left the house in (if only the landlord knew)! Worth ago.
Didn't stain devil do one for chewing gum? May have been a while now.

Peanut butter contains an oil that 'attacks' and softens chewing gum.

none worked so far! :(
researcher, I saw original post - saw your update yesterday morning and added a further reply not realising you'd begun another thread here ...
... are you still having problems removing the gum? Aside from the freezing technique, have you attempted any others recommended to you, if so, which ones?
