Chloasma - how to get rid of it?

Hi
I've a couple of chloasma patches on my face which I want to get rid of - ideally with something 'over the counter' if possible.

I tried Fade Out (which I got in Superdrug) but it didn't seem to make much of a difference.

Anyone had any success with any products please?

Hi doodles.
I have chloasma too. I haven´t found anything that gets rid of it but for the past six months I have put factor 50 suncream on my face everyday and it hasn´t got any darker, and neither have any more patches appeared, so I would recommend you use a sunscreen everyday, even if you´re not out in the sun for long. As for hiding it, I usually use a bit of concealer or foundation to cover it and although it doesn´t hide it completely, it does make it less obvious.

I have no idea what Chloasma is - but Bio Oil is fantastic at fading scars/stretch marks - could that help?

TheWaltons: its a dark discolouration/pigmentation in patches which you can get anywhere on the body but often on the face like I have. I'll have a look for that bio oil next time I'm in Boots, thanks for the recommendation.

Val: I'll definitely start to put a higher sunscreen on them. thanks v much.

Chloasma. Chloasma, also called melasma, or the “mask of pregnancy” is another skin condition which is diagnosed when certain areas of the skin turn darker because of excess pigmentation. Most often, this condition affects places of the skin which are most often exposed to sun, like the upper lip, forehead, cheeks. This condition is likely to clear up after pregnancy. Again, you can lessen your chances of chloasma by using a good (baby safe) doctor recommended sunscreen throughout the course of your pregnancy.

I have been using Alpha-H Liquid Gold that I bought from QVC and it does seem to be reducing the darkness of the marks under my eyes. I think it contains glycolic acid so you have to wear sunscreen on the treated skin.
