hi all
I know Ive read on here somewhere ( cannot find it) that theres something you can take to avoid having your peirod on holidays.
Im off to malawi i na few weeks and due on. Im desperate not to be on in malawi as a) we'll be roughing it a lot and there will probably be hygiene issues and morte importantly b) i usually get savaged by mozzies when on period and the risks from scores of bite-borne disease from ticks, sandflies and mozzies doesnt bear thinking about many of the diseases are fatal.
of course Ill be taking all the precautions I can not to get bitten, ( deets, covered up etc) but I really want this too if possible.
Please please help - if you know what is it I can take, whether i need a prescription , where I get it and of course, how much it is.
I cant take the pill due to health reasons, and have a copper coil.
Many thanks
Lynz

You'll need to go to your doctor. I think it's called Noristherone

sorry i don't know of any non-hormonal methods- i think the most common is by running 2 packs of the usual 'pill' together.

Make an appointment with your GP who I'm sure will prescribe you something like norethisterone to stop your period.

Juno is right, it is called NORETHISTERONE and is available on prescription from your dr. It needs to be started a few days before your period and continued until the end of your holiday. You will then have a normal period a few days after you stop taking it.
I have used it a few times for holidays, I just popped a note into my drs surgery and he prescribed it for me, no problems.

Can i ask why you can't take the pill? as you may not be able to take norethisterone either.

I think they may well be reluctant to prescribe anything hormonal for you, Lynz. It depends who you ask. I've had so many medical opinions on hormone links over the years that I could write the proverbial book. It would, before you point it out, be a very dull book with limited publication possibilities.

Ive got a new Dr now Wendy, and it wil be the first time Ive seen them. Ill see what they say!
Maybe I could co-write the book with you- then we would have a total of 2 people who would read it :rotfl:

there was a thread a while back about some kind of tea that might be able to make your period come early, so that it would be out of the way (I think)....something tip tea......... i even posted on the thread but can't remember..... i'll see if i can dig it up as it might help!
