Hairy leg

My Daughter aged 12,as had her leg in plaster cast for 8 weeks.
The cast has been removed____ at last.
It as been off for about 10 days now.
Trouble is around the knee area mostly, it is covered in dark hairs.
She has blond hair.
She does not seem that bothered about this but my OH is mortified and is wondering is this normal or do you have to remove them.
Worried about removing them as in adults hair normal grows back faster than ever.

Please advise.

If your daughter's not bothered, I would try not to make an issue of it and encourage your OH not to do so either.

It's very, very common. Leave them alone and they'll 'bleach' naturally quite quickly, and also fall out naturally at the normal rate.

My colleagues were practically wetting themselves over a concern I expressed the other day, which I just wouldn't DREAM of mentioning to the boys themselves!

I can well understand one parent saying to the other "Have you seen how hairy her knee is now, do you think it will ever be 'normal' again, what do you think we should do?"

Sounds like Errata has more direct experience than me: it's only DH who's ever been in plaster, full leg when he was 4 so no idea how hairy his leg was when it came out! :rotfl:

I posted to get advice, this comment was not helpful in any way whet so ever.
Neither my wife or myself are shallow and have not discussed this with our daughter.
We are well aware of the pressures on young people to look a certain way.

Sorry for the rant but sometimes these forums are full of people posting with little regard as to what they are saying.

why dont you get some jolen bleach and lighten the hairs until sunlight takes it's natural course? when i had my leg in a plaster cast the same thing happened but obviously i could shave it and that's not an option for your little girl. it won't be permanent but if it bothers you i would do that. jolen is very gentle but effective.

I would suggest that, as the posts above, if your daughter is not bothered then not to make a big deal of it. If however, it does become a problem for her, you could try a cream such as Veet to remove the hair, as it's a bit less dangerous than shaving - I remember the first time I shaved my legs, I was cut to ribbons!!
