Hello everyone

Ok, the deal is agreed, I've handed over a deposit and should be picking the car up on Monday afternoon once the car has been MOT'd in the morning.

I've just realised though that the car is also due it's 3 year service around now. So what should I do?

Should the seller pick up the service bill before the deal is done?
Should I negotiate some kind of deal where we share the cost?
Should I just get the deal over and done with then get the car serviced myself?Any advice very soon would be appreciated!

Cheers

Negotiate a price to reflect a service is to be done and get one done yourself, then you know it has been carried out. Our smart had A,B,A,C service schedule (but this was before fortwo days and it may have changed). An 'A' service is no more than an oil and filter change.

For excellent info visit www.thesmartclub.co.uk (http://www.thesmartclub.co.uk).

Quite honestly, you should have sorted this out before parting with your deposit. What if the seller says no?

Yep surely the negotiating should of been done before putting a deposit down?

Hi,
I agree with what others have said, the service should have been factored in to the negotiation of the price with the dealer. If you live anywhere near Nottingham then there is a great (and well known) independant Smart specialist - smarts-r-us (google them) and their service charges are alot cheaper than going to Smart/Mercedes dealership. Significantly cheaper that I will spend an hour and a bit travelling to them...

Smart fortwo @ smarts-r-us
A service £99.99
B service £174.99
C service £194.99

It's a refundable deposit so there's no worries on that front. But a further discount and getting it done myself may be the answer.
